Found this video and some photos on the @t2.engineers Instagram account showing the current status of the new T2 terminal that’s under construction. I had heard that work on the airport never stopped throughout the pandemic which is how I guess they’ve managed to get so much done.
There is another video I found below taken from @arabaviation that shows how the interior is coming along as well.

Let me guess, the shops and restaurants will take another 2 years to be built? Because last time I was at T4, the Boots pharmacy still didn’t open!

I was exaggerating on that part, because it felt like 2 years lol. However, I’m not wrong about that Boots pharmacy still not being open. Also, it’s hard being optimistic when eventually you end up being disappointed.
Shops and Restaurants have nothing to do with Airport management. Once they have completed the construction of the Airport, obviously they will start leasing out the shops. Who ever pleases them decides what to do with them. Whether they are open closed or when they want to open.
