So today I wore my Shake Shack t-shirt to the gym and on my way I took a picture and posted it on my twitter. To my surprise, one of my followers on twitter replied back telling me that Shake Shack will be opening in place of Le Pain Quotidien at Avenues. I quickly SMS’d my Alshaya insider to confirm and it turned out to be true.
Of course I was upset since I’ve been promoting Shake Shack ever since I first found out they were opening in Kuwait and instead of getting the information first from my insider, I ended up getting it from a twitter follower. My insider did tell me though that they were planning to have the branch open by end of the year and that I would get more information regarding that next week.
I also found out two more things, one is that they’re planning to open a second branch of P.F. Chang’s next to Al Corniche Club. My guess is they will probably open up where I Love Souk used to be located. Finally, I also found out that Pinkberry will be opening their Marina Mall branch before Eid next month. That’s everything I got for now.

at last Shake Shack! π
btw, where did you bought your shirt, Mark?
My psychic is telling me about some burger attack! Wait-a-minute. Just received sms on my crystal ball: ” Knock Knock, who’s there, Ramadan!” Best wishes y’all
ariston: from shake shack
Mark (or anyone who knows), on a related note: What on earth happened to Cheeburger Cheeburger at Souk Salmiya?
π
Great news!
awwww man .. I like PQ at The’Nues but bet I’ll like Shake Shack more π
Great! Another hamburger joint, replacing a place where you can have decent food. Obesity rules in Q8!
Finally, some good news !!!!!!!
@Rob – LMAO at ur last sentence π
FOOD FOOD and FOOD! Thats all u talk about! I hope you stop once Ramadan starts..else I am not visiting!
Ah crap – this is going to ruin my breakfast routine; plus get ready for long “me-too” lines ala Pinkberry except now forming in the middle of the damn mall.
I would have picked another location. Avenues it turning in to restaurant street.
thanks Mark, i really like the design! =)
wish the first Shake Shack will open somewhere (seaside maybe?), but not in the Avenues or any other malls…
I love you fellow foodie,
still no arbyβs
I want Arbys too!
I just spoke with someone at Al Shayer & they said it wasn’t a Shake Shack, but a place like Subway?!
PQ???? whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! they have the best breakfast! this is not fair plus some ppl are right another burger joint and another line up in avenues! this mall is getting uglier by the minute
When are we gonna stop getting hyped up about damn franchises ? How about a bit of creativity ? We need a dining identity of our own not someone elses !
Also there is more comin, many new restaurants and shops,
& PQ is one of the only places with decent, organic, whole wheat foods!! Surely another burger place is the last thing a country with some of the highest levels of obesity & diabetes needs!!
Dude not sure if you are aware of this but we have a good bunch of local burger joints like Slider Station, Burger Bouqitue, Burger Hub, OFK, Eighty6 Bistro etc.. Don’t see why you have an issue with franchises, why do we have to have just local chains, can’t we have both?
And what do they do? Shake shak
Milk shakes?
they have burgers and most importantly, they have the best chocolate custard shake ever.
A lot going on in Kuwait! A new shake shack, a new pinkberry, what’s next?!?!!? I’m so excited!
Any one knows whats happening to PQ??
PQ will move to another location in the mall.
I would give it a try!
what is it with restaurants opening in healthclubs … thats a receipe for disaster for the members …
Do you see many franchises in Europe ? They don’t even represent 20% of the market.
Realist it’s a free market and we’re lucky to have a choice between international chains and local creations. Not sure why you want to limit us to just local chains. Competition is good and so is choice.
Also, I am sure franchises in Kuwait make up less than 10% of all the local restaurants. Actually it probably is under 5% even so you should be happy.
Looking at the whole world, I find that the largest variety of food is in the US then London then Dubai then Kuwait. We are definitly in the top 5 worldwide because of the market’s demand.
@Q80:
You obviously haven’t been to Asia if you really think that.
I’m talking about prime areas which is a rarity in this part of the world. We don’t have high streets so our best bet is shoping malls and they offer very little in original local concepts. That’s why mall dining is boring. You see the same places everywhere. Unfortunately cities like London is getting monotonous. Streets are beggining to feel the same. This is something others are trying to avoid. Local creations might fail to deliver but they might succeed in the long run.
Hey Mark,
Are you in any shape or form working with or for or getting or looking to get any support from or affiliated with the people you write and review there products? e.g. Alshaya? (any conflict of interest here?)
it would be great if you do a disclaimer to give your reviews and news more transparency
Thanks π
Hey STS, I always place disclaimers when I need to and everyone knows I am extremely transparent with my readers. There is no conflict of interest in this case since I do not work for Alshaya nor do I work for Shake Shack.
I do have a contact at alshaya though which I clearly mentioned in the post above and previously in other posts.
Tshirt clearly says “Shack Stack”. How does that make your tshirt a “Shake Shack” Tshirt?
Did anyone else pick up on that?
Google it.
