I’m still working out three times a week at Core Fitness, it’s been over a year now and since summer is around the corner the only way to look ripped at the beach and showoff my abs is to shed some body fat. At my best my body fat percentage was 14% but that was before the Benihana lawsuit and since then I think I’ve gone back up to 15 or 16%. My abs are currently hidden behind a layer of fat and to get them to show I need to be under 12% so I’ve put that as a target to hit by the end of this month. I don’t know if that’s possible or not but I asked Fahad for help and he’s updated my diet to help me reach my goal.
I’ve actually been on a diet for over a year now and for the past 6 months and I’ve only been eating grilled food for lunch and dinner with Friday being an eat whatever I want day. It was hard enough but this month it’s going to be even harder. I am no longer allowed to eat taouk for example or have tabbouleh or even munch down on olives. Instead for lunch and dinner it’s now the following:
Pick 1 Carb Source:
– 1-cup of White Rice
– 1 Baked Sweet Potato (no white potatoes)
Pick 1 Protein Source:
– 10 oz Chicken Breasts (not Shish Tawook)
– 10 oz Lean grilled or raw fish (hammour, white fish, tuna, squid, shrimp, calamari)
Salad
Bowl of greens (no tabbouleh, or any dressing… just raw greens!)
Sauces Allowed
Tabasco, Red Rooster or Yellow Mustard
This month is going to be horrible. I don’t think I’m even going to cheat on Fridays since after suffering the whole week I don’t think I want to ruin it with a big fat juicy burger or a mouth watering chocolate dessert! Will see if I can hit my target or not and post another update at the end of the month.
Update: Found a lunch meal that fit into my new diet, it’s the “Only Salmon” platter from Sakura Express. According to Fahad “The meal’s loaded with omega-3 and fish oil (which are both great).”

I’m planning to join core fitness i was in that are looking for it but lost it!
what type of routine they make do? does it include weight training?
well they have a few different options, fitness, weight loss and muscle gain. I started off as weight loss, then moved to fitness and then to muscle gain.
mark u didnt have to put my pic up there..im a shy guy *blush*
That’s GSP!
oooooooh i got confused he looks JUST like me 😛
Mark i think your problem is with your routine, if you only work out 20 mins a day including cardio you will never get the fat around your mid section to disappear…
im not expert like Fahad, but i know from trial & error… self experience is the only way it can be done since every body has its own structure
I work out 3 times a week at core for an hour each time without cardio. I then do cardio 3 times a week for 30-40mins.
at the end of the day, whether its exercise and/or diet, you will have to find and customize whatever suits your body the most…
What about breakfast ?
3 boiled eggs
Good luck Mark 🙂 how you holding up so far?
really? sushi? – after whats happening in Japan? I’d hold off on sushi for a while.
Since we’re on that note – how about you charge your citizen journalism battery up and find out the state of sushi for us, is it safe, etc etc.
🙂
Just cus sushi is Japanese doesn’t mean they get th fish from there. Most of the fish if not all doesn’t come anywhere near there…i had sushi this friday and it was YUM. 🙂
ok
So did u actually lose weight on this? u should post initial and current weight with before/after pics from the neck down. We want to see the results.
ah the magical 12%! I’ve been following the progress of some people on Muscle & Strength and its quite motivating to see how some people transform from blubbery to RIPPED. I’ve got miles to go:(

Is this COREfitness like Curves, except its for MEN. Whats so special about it?
12% is high, you need to get lower :p
i want that meal in my belly..
Mark,
I have been in Core for more than a year. It’s very difficult to achieve that body fat percent in that short time. You will need a lot of cardio. Good luck!
Hey Rotsu, I am doing 1 hour sessions and my cardio on separate days so hopefully it will be enough time. I am hopeful since I have a high metabolism. We shall see how close I can get at least 🙂
The best result i got was losing %3 body mass in a month. You need to do a lot of intense cardio. Weight lifting won’t help you much(it does of course but you must focus on long cardio sessions) This is what worked for me at least. Let us know how it goes!
It took me exactly 10 days to get it from 8.5 to 7.5%… Nothing is impossible mark
Have you tried kettlebell snatches yet?
