If you’re looking for a new quirky Instagram account to follow, check out @quarantineguykw. Quarantine Guy just recently came back to Kuwait from London and is now in mandatory home quarantine until May 22nd.
Everyone coming back to Kuwait right now has to install the Shlonik app which allows the government to track your whereabouts. Part of the process is that the app will throughout the day randomly check and see where you are and then request you to take a selfie to prove the phone is with you.
Quarantine Guy has started taking selfies with funny messages to whoever is checking the photos and he’s posting the screenshots on his account. Funny stuff so check him out @quarantineguykw
Update: Quarantine Guy just got a call from the Prime Minister!

Wow I’m glad the govt is keeping up like this on the people who arrived
Oh yeah AND they’ve all got wrist bracelets on which I think is connected to the phone by Bluetooth
Can’t they just use FakeGPS, and take off the bracelets with a magnet?
and why the fuck would they do that?
I think what Yazan is trying to say is what if they do that and try to cheat the system?
Exactly, I thought the bracelet would be locked by a magnet like house arrest devices in the US, but a smaller variant.
Also, there’s a FakeGPS app that works for android, anyone trying to cheat the system could set their location to their home.
I always try to think of loopholes to any system, just to improve its security.
They don’t just monitor from the phone, and if they see (or suspect) any interference to the wrist gps they will visit.
What does taking of the bracelet off with a magnet even mean? It’s an electronic GPS, magnetic waves won’t effect its function
Wallah I’m Home … Now that’s funny 🙂
