Kuwait Mobile ID App

The Public Authority for Civil Information recently updated their app with some new interesting features. The app is now a phone-based Civil ID for identity verification. It will also be used for authenticating government and non-government eservices and serve as a trusted digital signature for electronic documents and transactions. That’s basically how it’s described in the app store but I don’t think you can use it yet for anything, at least not that I’m aware of.

I think we will start using it soon for online services as a means to authenticate ourselves as we are moving everything to a digital platform which is why I installed it and set it up. Set up is a fairly straight forward process if you have the newer smart Civil ID’s with the chips). Once you input your Civil ID number and serial number (from the back of your Civil ID) into the app, it will automatically pull all your information including address, photo, nationality, and other details. I’m actually looking forward to seeing what I can eventually use it for.

From my understanding, the curfew pass is on the phone. This could be related. They also mentioned an upcoming plan to shop with civil id (not just to enter coop but to keep tabs on how much you can buy).

ah yeah makes sense cuz i’ve seen the MOI on their isntagram story use their phones to scan QR codes off drivers who have passes on their phones.

The photo seems to not match which does not let me proceed and puts a damper on the registration process

All within a couple of months. Imagine what could have been done if they started a decade ago. This all comes to the point that the government works for today, and not tomorrow.

Exactly! I’ve been saying the same thing about the US. So many things they could’ve been doing for society as a whole and yet only the wealthy continue to prosper.

Honestly its quite surprising considering the snail pace at which things were moving along before. Due to this pandemic my belief in the Kuwait government has increased immensely to a degree I couldn’t fathom before. Lots of good initiatives and work being done to adapt to the current circumstances. It used to be typical to say that people working at the ministry were inefficient but when the time has come they have stepped up to the game!

Really appreciate the Kuwait government and hope to see more progressive steps taking place in the future!

I think the system is trying to do a facial match between the photo from the DB and the selfie. It will be quiet a task to do a good match; considering how much editing those hacks at the photo shops apply when printing the ID photo.

I think it may be pre planning for the curfew. I just signed up for a shopping spot at my neighborhood coop on Wednesday. When I input my civil ID info it auto populated my name. Will be glad if we don’t have to take out the actual Civil IDs and can instead flash a phone screen for ID

Issue with the app is – you can register only 1 civil id in 1 mobile. For example, if i register my civil id on my mobile, i cannot add profiles of my children. That is a big disadvantage, unless the person has more than 1 or 2 mobiles with him…. 😀

Well this isn’t a problem, it’s like saying you can only have one person per civil ID card, that’s basically what your phone will be, a digital ID card. Your kids aren’t gonna need a digital ID card so it’s not a disadvantage, this app isn’t Facebook

It needs to have the concept of multiple civil ids as sometimes the parent and the children’s ids expire almost at the same time. Now the issue is I could create the id of one of my twin son but not the other son as the other mobile has my civil id

What Rubeena is trying to say is, the young kids, who not not carry a mobile set, cannot use digital id. We (parents) will have to carry their cards since the ids are mandatory for entry/exit at all airports.

Well i tried to install the app but noticied it requies to access to my photos and record other stuff why do they need access what is the guarantee that will not be misused ? .
Afraid uninstalled.

I used the application and received my Kuwait Mobile ID, but the ID lists my birth date as 1 January instead of the real date which appears on my hard ID.

Just tried the Mobile ID as the PACI office is closed and I recently returned to Kuwait on a new passport so needed to have the new passport number on my civil ID. On submitting my photo it returned the error “you civil card is not expired”. What sounded like a great idea on the face of it, is being poorly executed. What now?

I do need it and the PACI website directed me to this when checking the status of my new civil ID. As we don’t have the residency stamps on the passports anymore, the Civil ID I have does not match with my new passport number. I was hoping to fly out of Kuwait in Ramadan and we have all heard of the stories of people being turned away at the airport when the information on their Civil IDs do not match their passport.

Getting the same error when my wife tries to do it. No idea how to get it rectified. Just renewed her residence online a week back and applied for the ID. Since PACI is closed, thought we would get the mobile ID configured. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

After taking the selfie, I get the same „Registration error, please check your details“ message that some others have got on the forum. Did anyone else get it resolved?

Instead of Selfie, can we use standard photograph (blue color backround) to upload the image. will it accept ?

recently renewed residency online and checking status of civil id on paci website
and getting message Please Activate your civil ID through Kuwait Mobile ID application after 24 hours.

after 24 hours tried to activate through Kuwait Mobile ID app and on submitting my photo it returned the error “you civil card is not expired”

what to do?

My Civil ID was updated in Mobile ID App, Then I renewed my Civil ID, however the expiry date in the mobile app does not change to the new revised date.

(But Mobile ID verifier shows the correct expiry date). Anybody have similar experience, Why to do?

I used this App to create my mobile ID, but received an error message that ” Your civil ID is valid and not expired” .
What does it mean?

I have forgotten the pin number and uninstalled the app and ID from the mobile. Then reinstalled the app and updating the data and not possible to fix the ID . After Selfie photo message coming ‘your ID is not expired’
Please advise what will do.

Can we register right away after paying the Civil ID? Because I tried to register my Mobile ID just 15 minutes after I paid for Civil ID in the PACI. However, I am getting error “There is no Renewal Request”… for those successfully registered their IDs did you wait for sometime or registered right away?

The app is not working , It keeps telling me “kindly renew your civil id” which I just did 4 days ago and paid already. I have a friend which has same problem as mine and we both have same mobile phones, so i guess this was because of the phone? 🤦🏻‍♀️ I need someone to help me figure this out as my civil id is about to expire and don’t have slot for appointments in paci. And I need this app to activate my new card.

hey i have problem ..I’m in India right now ..so I had to renew my civil id so my dad had to give his mobile number for me to renew it since I’ve an India number .Now has he’s trying to renew his on his phone he’s not able to since I’ve used his number.so there any solution to it?

If ur dad is in Kuwait no need to worry about his id he can use any of his friend or relative number and mobile for a temporary,y u don’t use ur indian number for ur id?am using indian number too but u have one plus point,if ever they said mobile id holders can’t travel for a while,till we fix,ur dad can collect ur id and send it to u by courier so it’s easy for u.one number one app one id that’s it I think..thank you

My civil id expired on 31st July 2020, i renewed online in the mid of july. Now in 1st week of august August, I downloaded the Kuwait mobile id app, but after i put all details, it shows your id card expired as serial id is of the old civil id card. How can i resolve this? I am in India, i am sure i will need this app for traveling. Please help.

Does mobile id work for children with no photo in civil id.?
I tried many times for my son who is 4 years old. His civil id was renewed on 5th August 2020, but still it shows error in the app..

But it shows 1.1.1980 in the app

the app is currently broken due to the latest update. read all the comments under the app in the store and you will see how every single comment is bashing the app for it being useless. typical.

Yes even I have the same problem. I am in India and I need 3 digital IDs for my family. My son does not have a phone. I need to buy a phone for this now.

Mai, my wife is facing the same problem as yours. She took selfie, but it is showing error that selfie not match with original civil ID. Please advise how to solve this problem

First take a picture of the picture which u used in civil I’d then instead selfie u hold that picture in the front try to zoom but u need another mobile it works

After I reinstall app, the app is not running, it says server is unavailable. Anyone else facing this issue?
