Renew Your Car Registration by WhatsApp

My Alfa Romeos’s car registration expired a couple of days back and because of the pandemic, I’m not required to have the car physically checked when issuing a new car registration. Instead, there are now companies that can renew the insurance for you and get your car registration issued without you having to go or do anything.

There are a number of companies but I ended up using Beep because it was the only one me and my friends could remember. The cost is KD32 for the insurance and car registration issuance. You contact them over WhatsApp, send them a picture of your expired car registration and the back and front of your Civil ID, in return they send you a payment link, and then the next day drop off your new car registration for you. They also take the old one back so you need to make sure you have that with you.

KD32 sounded a bit steep but I usually pay KD16 for my insurance and then KD5 for the car registration stamp so they’re basically charging around KD10 to do all this for you which isn’t that bad. This service is only applicable for cars whose registration expired March 12, 2020 onwards. If your car expired before that date you still need to get the car registration done in person.

What if your car registration has not yet expired? Can you still renew it? The instagram appears to be entirely in arabic.

Thanks for the info!

That is false and you’re spreading incorrect information (fake news). You can NOT renew before expiry. Once expired you have 10 days to renew, after that 10 days you have to pay a fine for late renwal.

You will be greatly disappointed to know that is not true. You CAN renew before the date of expiry. My company and I have done it a thousand times for Company licenses, Fire licenses, Residence renewals, Vehicle registrations, Driving licenses, etc…For some documents, the time period before expiry is 30 days and for some others it is 3 to 5 working days. I’m either CORRECT or SPECIAL.

Mark please make sure you have the right info before posting it here. You can and should renew your daftar before expiry or you attract a 5KD fine on renewal. I think you can do it upto a month or two before expiry. Please delete your earlier comments calling this fake news to avoid confusing later visitors.

for the love of god why do I have to keep repeating myself? When the daftar expires you have 10 days to renew it without paying a fine. Stop spreading misinformation, call Beep, or visit the Ministry and check for yourself. Easy, I don’t know why I have to bother with you trolls.

I believe you. But unfortunately, in this argument, we are lead to believe the written word on the world wide web. Especially, in this country rules keep changing more frequent than the seasons. So Mark may be right since the introduction of the new rules regarding vehicle registrations But you can be rest assured that your point will be right when the rule changes in XX days. That is, if the aforementioned rule is the present rule.

And the 5 KD you are speaking of is the fine for Driving LIcenses.

My actual words were… ” I’m either CORRECT or SPECIAL. ” Apparently, users – James, Reality & Kuwait are special too <3 . Giving everyone their benefit of doubt, I'd like to conclude by saying 'To each, his own'. Ciao!

Actually you can renew before it expires…. it’s not a problem at all… i just did mine really Berghaus I’m going to be traveling.

i’ve renewed my car registration about 3 weeks before expiry twice now, the last time being jan 2020. i think it can be done up to a month before expiry unless rules have been changed in the last few months.

I just called them, my registration expires on the 20th of october. They just said to whats app my info and registration and a day before its expiry they will pass by and take my papers to renew on the day of expiry

I just whatsapped them about my Datsun which expired back in February and they said I could renew it with them which is weird. Trying to confirm it now so I can update the post.

Errrr.

When I bought my second hand car last November the company charged me 400KD for insurance for a year…..

Was I ripped off? It seems like it.

You will be disappointed to know what is written on the website is not what happens across the counter. Now what happens at the counter has no web link to prove my point. So I rest my case. But I’ll be back right here the next time when I have a document of my old car registration and the new one for you to compare. Until then… may each of you have your own experience to share about, around this issue.

Mark

Don’t intend to piss you off at all, but vehicle registration CAN be renewed before expiry.

In fact all my life in Kuwait I’ve taken utmost care to try and not cross the expiry date. What you have said is also true, that you have until 10 days after expiry before fines are implemented.

Just like in the case of residency, phone lines, bills etc. In fact a majority of people prefer getting all renewals done before expiry.

Again, my statement is based off my personal experience where they refused to renew daftar cuz it wasn’t expired and still valid so can’t be renewed. I also provided a link to the official MOI website that clearly states you can only renew once expired. And Beep the renwal agency are also stating the same thing.

So not sure what more proof I can provide 🤷🏼‍♂️

Don’t provide any more proof bro.

As you can see, majority have (almost by default) renewed before expiry but for some reason you are the first case I’m seeing who’s been asked to come after expiry 🤔

And sir, this is Kuwait… I wouldn’t blindly believe websites 😎

Mark,
1.All these years when I’ve renewed even a day or on the day of expiry there’s a fine in the system. That cannot change for you alone unless they’ve something this year.
2. I just renewed three cars, two before and one 6 months after (because of covid) the expiry date. I did not get fined this time because they’ve changed the rules until Dec, but it also confirms you can renew it ahead.

Now unlike the driving license, the daftar gets renewed effective the date of expiry (same also as the civil ID) so you aren’t penalized renewing early in terms of the days.

Mark is also right and others are also right..

Due to the Corona, THIS YEAR all the daftars are renewed ONLY AFTER EXPIRY (applicable only if you go to Murror for renewal), but you can renew the same before expiry if you are using private services like DAMAN Inspection…

But earlier (before corona), we could renew befor expiry from Muroor.

This is what i was just told from someone working there. Before the whole corona thing, you could renew your registration a month before expiry date. The renewal / insurance date on the new registration though will start at the same date of expiry but a year later even if you renew it earlier. So example is, your registration expires on may 1, 2019 you can renew it on april 20, 2019. But the date of expiry on the newly printed registration will be may 1, 2020 rather than april 20, 2020.
After the corona thing, march 12 i think, you cant renew until the same day of expiry. But that only applies on places that you dont have your inspected. If you take your car to on of the private places for renewal before expiry then wmthey will do it before expiry but only after inspection of the vehicle

Spot on!
Me and a bunch of friends(speaking of atleast 50+) have gotten their daftars renewed well before date as well!

Daftar can be renewed even a month earlier, I have done that several times, but its also true they do give a grace period of 10 days before imposing a fine for delayed renewal.

Mark I’ve had the same experience as Savage and the others and renewed earlier. I renew with Daman. They charge 35.5 (20.5 insurance, 10 service and 5kd stamp)

I am the conservative type. I don’t wait for the expiry as I hate fines. I have an alert system that reminds me 10 days before expiry. I renew during the week (at least a week before expiry). 25 years experience.

My car daftar was finishing on 16th Sep-2020 and I tried to renew before one week. But the muroor officials didn’t allow and informed to come back on 17th Sep-2020. I checked with my friends also and got the same info. I think this rule came in to effect during the pandemic period to avoid rush in muroor. So…#iamwithmark

UPDATE: My vehicle lease company – AUTOLEASE just called me to hand over the Daftar and vehicle to them this week for them to renew my car’s registration which expires on the 18th of November. I asked them for clarification on the latest rules. They apparently don’t have to wait for a month until the date of expiry. So to whom do the MOI rules actually apply to?

Hi Blogger

First would like to thank you for sharing your recent experience with beep and glade to know it was a positive one.

Just to clarify further on registration renewal (Daftar) process for your audience

Yes, you can renew your registration within 20 days before expiry and if you pass the expiry date there is a delay fine of KD 5.

Currently due to COVID-19, the traffic department has exempted cars that expired on March 12th 2020 onward from technical inspection. Therefore you just need to renew your TPL insurance (Third Party Liability) and issue the new registration from Traffic Department. Also no delay fines of KD5 for now.

Once the government announce the shift to phase 5 of recovering from COVID-19 this exemption will not be applicable anymore and all cars has to go to the old or normal process I mentioned at the beginning where you need to inspect your car to renew your registration.

Therefore currently the traffic department allows to issue the new registration only for expired one’s

hope we have been helpful

Hello well I order this service and I liked it but now a little bit confuse cause you mentioned price of 32 kwd but I paid 42 kwd ….. and the main question is Why? 10 kwd more for bringing me at home?

Hi Sultan

We are really happy to have you as a customer we are glad to know that it was a good experience when you hired of services. The registration renewal can be done for one or two years depend on the car model. Currently if your car 2015 and newer the. You can get the registration renewed for two years. Of course our price is KD32 and for two years as the insurance policy period will two years which cause this KD10 extra charges. Btw this is more convenient to pay KD10 extra and save KD 22 next year and not going thru the hassle of renewing your registration specially next year will have to take it for inspection.

I hope I was able to clarify your doubts and please feel free to reach us out if you would like to know more about anything related to your car.

And look forward to be at your service in the near future
