First Impression: Totally Fish

Totally Fish

Although Totally Fish has been open in Marina Crescent for two years now I never passed by to try it. It was one of those places I kept hearing negative stuff about mostly that it was too expensive and that the food wasn’t really good. But last night I felt like having seafood and decided to pass by Totally Fish since it was nearby.

I was with Nat and we ended up ordering Salmon Croquette and Prawns Cake for appetizer while for the main course she had a Salmon dish while I had Balloul. The appetizers were pretty ordinary and we wouldn’t order them again. We also didn’t like our main courses that much, Nats salmon had too many flavors, none of which was Salmon while my Balloul was just really forgettable. The biggest surprise was the fact that the prices weren’t expensive at all. The Salmon Croquette was around KD1.500, while the Prawns Cake around KD2.500. The Salmon was for KD6.750 while the Balloul was KD6.500. The portions were also surprisingly big.

Even though we didn’t enjoy any of the dishes I am still going to go back. Its common to order the wrong dishes the first time at a place and since their location is good, the staff friendly and the prices very reasonable, they are worth a second visit.

I tried this place last week for the first time … I’ve had zbaidi fish which was amazing & so tender & served with nice light sauce… & my hubby ordered pasta with jambo Mushrooms & it was very nice too… we had the grilled jambo prawns too & they had dips on the side… Brilliant stuff & as you said it’s not expansive at all.

Hmm.. been cravin for some good seafood… might pass by later in he week…. btw what happened to your quest for the best burger in town?

We decided to try the Fish Oasis at the Al Kout fish market over the weekend. Bought some hammour at the market, had them fillet it, then walked over to the Oasis and had them fried up…it was excellent. Next time we’ll try the grilling option. }-]

i went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago, it was amazing, we had the sole fillets in butter lemon sauce, and we had a fried sole “provencal” way.. we also had the prawn cakes, and the fried calamari.. the food was amazing, the service was perfect, weather was summery, sunny n cool breeze… my mom also went there, they had the huge fish covered with sea salt and baked in the oven, i think it was hamour, and they also had grilled jumbo prawns, she says it was really amazing..

i think u went for the wrong orders..

TIP : dont order salmon, have a local fish, so u can assure that its freshy fresh, not frozen fresh..

i tried the black widow, it was disgusting, i just had 2 bites, it tasted really weird, was very soggy, and the sweetness of the caramalized onions was just not right, the meat patty tasted weird and had that spongy texture.. bad experience.. oooh and the fries.. wtf?

If you go again try their sole fish fried… or sea bass cooked in salt (my best dish at totally fish is the sea bass)….. Their fish and chips is also good if you like fish and chips! hmmm also, for appetizers try raw oysters…

These are my recommendations for totally fish! I Love this place 😀

oh my god do not go there, when it first opend we went as a famliy and it was ok.
i recently went back on a friday with my family and they got the order compleatly wrong and sent meal out 15 mins apart.

then i gave them another chance and took a friend who came from dubai and i got food poisioning!!

its crap! never again.

This place is a joke !

Last week I passed by with my wife and I chose the Baloul with potatoes (batata 7arra) but I requested not to have the potatoes and to have vegetables instead (I am on a stupid diet) but to my surprise the waiter refused to accept my request and told me that she can not change the potatoes !!!!! I told her why ??? is this s rule that you can not break? I do not want the potatoes and if you are in doubt go ask your manager!

She went into one of the table where a fat Lebanese women (long curved nails with a siggaratte on the two fingers ) was sitting (turned to be the manager I guess) and spent like 5 minutes arguing and discussing the unbelievable crazy request of mine! Then came back to me apologizing and insisting that she can not take the potatoes off as this is the rule of the restaurant !!! I told her thank you and we left.

What a fucken customer service is this !!
