Kuwait Olympic Village is a Go

The first time I heard about this project was back in 2011 but it looks like it got approved and is going to be constructed since it’s currently in a tendering stage.

The Kuwait Olympic Village development comprises a Stadium, Team Games Hall, Individual Games Hall, Racquet Games Hall, Swimming Complex, Training Field & Track, International Zone, Athletes Residential Block, Mosque, Olympic Flame Tower, Concourse and Existing Substation.

So many cool projects are coming to life, the metro project is also supposed to start construction this year, I hope thats still happening. For more renderings of the Kuwait Olympic Village, click [Here]

Not really, it’s not like we are permanently banned from the Olympics, it’s a temporary situation that is being sorted out. Plus this project would need a few years to be completed, it’s not like the opening is next weekend.

This is what was previously written:

The concept consists of a plan in the shape of infinity, around the existing Jaber Stadium and a new man-made lake on which will float three Olympic sized stadia. Contained within the main superstructure are another Olympic stadium, a five star hotel and a shopping centre. The tower, working within the long tradition of Kuwaiti tower-based architectural icons, contains a seven star hotel as well as luxury apartments, VIP suites for the stadium, and a Michelin star restaurant with extraordinary views.

1% chance this gets built at all.
0.00001% it’s done in the next 10 years.
0% chance Kuwait ever gets an Olympics in any of our lifetimes, especially after Qatar’s impending World Cup disaster.

It honestly all depends on who’s working on this project. Is the Diwan Al Amiri involved in this mega-project? If so, I guarantee it will be completed in no time and will be spectacular!

If your last point is about getting to host an Olympic games, then you are really dumb, because I dont think Kuwait would aspire to host them in the first place. There are limitations that a whole lot of countries in the world have (for example small area, small population, weather, etc), and that’s why they never propose to host one at all, although financially they may afford to- like many tiny countries in Europe, etc

I just realized another thing. The Olympics if we notice, are actually called the ‘Summer’ Olympics, and they’re held in June-July.

Hahaha, now imagine a (mainly outdoor) sporting event in Kuwait in those months.

Would be interesting to see the 50 KM marathon on 5th RR and athletes getting roasted and passing out at 1 KM.
