My New Favorite Car Oil Place

Totally random and insignificant post to everyone but this post is for people googling looking for a certain brand of oil for their car. My FJ and Lotus get their oil changed at the dealer, but my Alfa and Datsun I change the oil myself. Previously I was getting my car oil from Auto1 on Canada Dry street but they only carried the Lukoil brand and the last time I went they didn’t even have the right viscosity grade I needed. There’s a BMW spare parts store nearby that carries the Liqui Moly brand of oil but they also never seem to have the viscosity I needed and they’re overpriced. But, I recently found a place in Shuwaikh that carried a ton of oil from different brands and grades and its now my goto place for oil.

If you’re looking to buy oil for your car they carry a number of brands including Liqui Moly, Lukoil, Lucas, Kassel, Kendall, Mercedes-Benz, and Shell. Their Instagram account is @q8.oil.center and here is their location on Google Maps (large sign outside that says Motor Plus and also Kuwait Oil Center).

I’m going to definitely check that out. Since I hate taking my Acura back to the dealer. They have the worst after sales service ever.
I wish there were companies where I could purchase parts for my Acura, and then I could just take it to bumper to bumper and have it fixed.

But isn’t 20/50W a thicker grade oil mostly used in older cars to seal the gaps in engine cylinder seal which often pop up due to age and high operating temperature in Kwt? Correct me if I’m wrong as that’s what I understood till date.

No idea, this is what oil people are using in their Alfa’s in warm climates. It’s actually 20W50, i mistyped earlier. My friend has a BMW 2002 e10 and also uses same oil.

If you ever looking for a specific oil, you can contact Shield Lubricants. They are a Kuwaiti factory based out of Shuaiba and many of my friends get custom blends for their automotive oils (mineral and fully synthetic) from their factory. They also have a state of the art laboratory where they can test all of the oils available here.

You can reach out to them on IG @ShieldLubes or visit their site at shieldoils.com

They are like the LiquiMoly of the Middle East. They’re actually superior to most of the global brands in terms of price, performance and specifications. They also have an online store with home delivery for their oils I believe.

I never skip a chance to support local businesses as long as they’re up to standard, quality wise, customer-service wise, everything-wise basically. Give them a shot one day if you are undecided, I’m sure you’d be pleased.

When it comes to engine oils, don’t stop with the SAE (viscosity) ratings.

Look for the API/SN ratings and make sure it’s equivalent or exceeds the engine requirements.

You’d be surprised, there’s a LOT of SAE compatible oils but not engineered for your engine when it comes to API/SN.

Exactly! And I think synthetic wins over mineral as if helps in preventing the formation of sludge inside the engine compartment. What’s your say?

There’s a LOT of factors to consider. Type of engine, age, working condition, etc.

Personally, i go for API that exceeds the required.

Full synth simply extends the drain intervals (and of course all those anti-shear properties, etc).

I use mineral since i have an older car (2008)
