Salhiya are building a new mall/office tower right across from KIPCO Tower in Kuwait City and they’re calling it Assima. The video above is a 3D rendering of how the project will end up looking like but honestly the most exciting aspect for me is that there will be a multistory parking lot which means customers to Solo Pizza which is located right next to this project (check map below) will no longer have parking issues. Does anyone know when construction is planned to start and complete?
The mall and the hotel apartments will be completed in late 2018 and the tower will in 2019
Should be called Aasima and not Assima if we read the title of the project in Arabic.

Not that we need yet another mall, but I find that the combination of Salhia Real Estate Co. + Ahmadia Construction often results in robust well-built quality properties
I just hope it doesn’t overwhelm its surroundings

Great! Another mall in Kuwait City….. as if the city is not already crowded………….
It is crowded, by complete crap and I hope buildings like this will force them to move to the industrial area where they should be. Have u ever seen a respectable capital where u are greeted by tire and car repairmen?
Assima will apparently bring VOX Cinemas and Tesco onboard as operators of the mall’s cinema and hypermarket components. Good to see that the design of the mall/hotel components will be dynamic and add some energy to downtown and more importantly, that there will be lots of parking and that the project is finally on the go again after being on hold for the better part of a decade.
Seeing that the owning company teamed up with Marriott for their properties at Salhiya [JW Marriott], Arraya [Courtyard] and Dasman [Residence Inn], I’m guessing that we’ll see another Marriott-branded property for the hotel. My money is on Marriott Executive Apartments… Or maybe something really exciting like Element now that the massive merger of Marriott and Starwood is about to close.
I was hoping we’d get saintburys rather than tescos but I’m not complaining.

The project spec explicitly says an apartment hotel, so Edition won’t make the cut based on that. I hope it’ll be an Element seeing as they’ve been silent on who the operator is; maybe they’re waiting for the Marriott-Starwood merger to close this month before figuring details out?
We were just talking about this building yesterday and the rumors say its marriott executive apartments but i have no clue about a mall or something.. I had a bad joke too there turning this long road(shuhada street) to the fifth avenue three marriotts on the same road😜😜 they just need to upgrade the road maybe 9 stars up to have the actual fifth avenue here.

I was planning to take a photo everyday till the project finishes but got a bit busy/lazy lol
I’d like to see how they’re going to handle the traffic, i.e. parking flow etc. I love the idea of a parking lot (god knows we need more affordable, organised parking areas in the city,) but unless it has a capacity for 600 cars and proper routing we’re going to have another parking disaster like the 360 Mall.
Also wondering about the tower, does is it affect the effectiveness of those helipads the neighbours have? (Just an idle thought.)
