I Date Kuwait

idatekuwait

Last week I posted about a local blog I started reading and found fascinating called Single in the Shires. It must have been inspiring because another blog popped up this week called I Date Kuwait. While Single in the Shires is about the dating adventures of a single British girl living in Kuwait, I Date Kuwait is about the dating adventures of a single Kuwaiti girl. She just has four posts up but I think it’s going to be interesting to see the contrast between a British expat dating in Kuwait and a young Kuwaiti girl. Check it out [Here]

Oh yeah! Looks good, finally someone who can vouch for the homosexuality claims I’ve noticed for a long time. But it does forecast a sad reality for Kuwaiti women, lack of straight men, maybe the government should do a study. They should start looking for other GCC guys….although from the pictures on Instagram homosexuality runs rampant among the wealthy guys all over the Gulf, look for the broke ones.

Based on that (ridiculous) logic, your Kuwaiti husband is either poor or gay, and I doubt you moved to the Gulf to marry a broke guy so…

I didn’t move to the Gulf to marry anyone in particular and as for the significant other he is not part of the young generation, there’s a big difference between the older generation and the young kids of today, if you lived in Kuwait long enough you would know. Her blogs is about ’20 somethings’ if you read it correctly you would know to whom I’m was referring to. I hate when people spew out words of hate just to get attention when they travel through life with blinders on.

The young kids of today are slightly more comfortable openly saying they are gay, whereas the older generation would hide it their entire lives, marry women, and cheat on those women with men. Why is the openness a bad thing? Would you rather you find out your husband is gay after 3 children? Or just never get involved in the first place?

Not agreeing with your bigoted conclusions doesn’t mean we have blinders on; it may actually just mean you’re wrong and really bad at entertaining that notion. I’m really not sure where you get off telling anyone else about spewing hate considering what you’re defending.

Further – let me tell you about the older generation. They raise the younger one then complain like they aren’t responsible, and kid themselves that when THEY were younger, they were TOTALLY super different and obedient 😉

All due respect, I find that to be a pretty stupid observation. The fact that people actually think this is an epidemic is a testament to how ridiculously uneducated people are in regards to sexuality in the gulf. Here’s hoping we don’t turn into Uganda.

This girl’s views on homosexuality are pretty ignorant for someone who clearly considers themselves liberal

“The rapidly rising rate of homosexuality in Kuwait” lol someone needs to explain to her how this works

This blog isn’t about dating, it’s about talking about every failed relationship she’s ever had. Yawn.

The fact that she has to keep bashing gay men isn’t helping. We get it, someone rejected you and his male friends thought he was gay, get over it. And if you’re so disgusted at the idea of marrying a closeted gay man, you should probably not be contributing to the ignorance and stigma that makes people feel like they can’t be honest.

Here is what the blog will read.

Entry 1 “Told Baba I was going to Mariam’s for the night. But I really went to a random chalet party and got wasted. Really wasted since I only get to drink once in a while with it being all Haram. I chose the brown bottle because it is way better with diet coke than the white bottle. Made out with Ali, Rob and Mimi after snorting a few lines. Couldn’t find my Abaya I took off as soon as I got there”.

Entry 2 “Traveled on Holiday to any place but Kuwait so I could bang my brains out while drinking and smoking up without everyone judging me. Will have to plan another trip to Lebanon for on the way back to get a surgery that makes me look like a virgin again for my future husband. Thanks God I have a cosmetic surgeon on speed dial”.

Entry 3 “Met a great guy and got to know him. Realized he was really cool, kind and dependable so I cheated on him as soon as possible with one of the abusive posturing jerks guys I talk to on my other cell phone. The naughty stuff was disappointing as I expected but I still dropped the good guy because I like bad boys. Wallah I know I can change this one to be good and dynamite in the sack “!

Entry 4 “Been on a few dates with that total muscle head douche bag. He has a Porsche and a huge….Bank Account. I think I am in love. Even though he won’t travel with me or introduce me to anyone. We went to Egaila mall tonight because we can’t be seen together where people may know him. He is just trying to be safe for me since I know I am the only one! I deserve a good guy like him because I have had nothing but problems with men no fault of my own! He is the one though for sure”.

A lot of people find the blog insightful & refreshing & this is coming from someone who cannot stand the general mentality here. It is absolutely nothing like the derivative drivel you’ve just posted.

“Realized he was really cool, kind and dependable so I cheated on him as soon as possible with one of the abusive posturing jerks guys I talk to on my other cell phone.”

I look forward to reading your blog entries about all the times you were friendzoned that you never got over.

UAE? impossible! the country is very open but the people arent! they are actually forced to live the western way.

Have you ever seen Emirates at a club in Dubai? never! but if club do open in Kuwait, Kuwaitis will be the first to go!

We should be having speed dating events in Kuwait! Lets be honest here, anyone single who says i am going to a gathering to meet new people actually means i am going to a gathering hoping that i will meet a girl/guy! I cannot understand why do people hide that fact or pretend that they are not thinking about the whole idea although they are dying to meet somebody!
Mark, you should plan up the “Speed Dating Events” and do us a favor LOL

There is speed dating. It’s based at the car park in front of our building in Block 3 Sabah-al-Salem. Out one car (Lexus for example), furtively into another (Massive truck). Off for 20 mins. Back again. Repeat.

i agree with Feras. Speed dating would be a good option to get to know each other. I am saying get to know each other ! Not hook up for a one night stand…although whoever feels comfortable doing that please do …there are dating events all over the world, why can’t we have one in Kuwait ! Mark you would be the perfect organiser …. Instead of underground parties …shalehs …why not go out in the open… One can rent space for an evening and organise sth …internations does sth similar but it’s mostly for western expats …so do the embassies… Why not sth for Arab expats and locals !?

I thought we were not allowed to use offensive language in the comments. Because there were some replies that needed some strong words and I have restrained myself in the understanding that you would censor it.

Who cares if someone is gay. So they like to taste one. It’s their preference so let them have at it. I have so many Gay friends here both men and women. They are just like everyone else. Well most of them are way more fun and stylish but I digress. Hanging out with them won’t cause the Gay to rub off on you or adversely effect you in any way. And let’s be honest the segregation which has stated getting worse and worse I.E. No co-ed overseas school trips and much more tend to lead to more people experimenting because when they hit puberty they are pretty much around only the same sex. So you read what you sew people. As long as you continue to encourage segregation and backwards thinking this will always “be an issue”. It’s 2014 open your minds and stop being old school Jerks.

You do realize that 50% of Kuwaitis study in co-ed universities in the West? Look at the number of Kuwaitis with Western university education and currently studying in Western universities

Segregation of education doesn’t cause homosexuality. Most Arab countries have segregated educational systems, not just Kuwait.

Homosexuality was common in Kuwait even when Kuwait University was co ed. Homosexuality is a normal part of human nature.

After reading it all, the first thing I asked myself was ‘Am I Living In The Same Kuwait’, I might be wrong though as there is no way for me to prove it fictional or real.
