Bring back some memories, some are sad and others are happy. I remember seeing some of the devastation right after I return back to Kuwait one year after the liberation, I was 7 back then.
Thank you man for the post.
I remember than morning like it was yesterday , I lived in Alahmadi at the time with my family ( we are syrians ) and I was 5 years old . We lived across the street from the special forces barracks . We woke up that day on the sound of artillary and guns . What happened is the kuwaiti soldiers fled to nearby apartement buildings for cover , and our apartement building was one of them . Four of them knocked on out door , and we asked them ” what is going on ? ” , they replied ” the iraqis are slaughtering us , we were wondering if you had any food ?” so my mother gave them apples and a glass of water , as that is what we had at the time . Outside was hell . The kuwaiti soldiers were getting killed outside , and one of the soldiers got shot very badly , and his comrades dragged him to save him . After that morning , I remember nothing . I have no recollection of how I got to syria , which I was told I was very close to being shot by an iraqi soldier at a checkpoint for asking my father if this “soldier” was “good or evil” .
That was one of the worst years of my life to be honest with you .
