Presentation on the Kuwait Metro

Spotted this video on the LWDLIK blog. It’s a presentation on the new railway system that is going to be built in Kuwait. I’ve posted about this topic a number of times before but this video offers a new glimpse on how the system will work and be implemented. They even have a few 3D renderings over real world shots showing how it’s going to look which is a design similar to the Dubai Metro but with a potential to be better since they’re planning to cover the whole country. I wish they start implementing it soon as traffic has reached critical levels where it’s crowded throughout the day however I should also wish for a million kd while I’m at it 🙁

im with bo6baila on this one.. our government is good at planning lol and never at actually finishing something! If it takes them years to construct/reconstruct various roundabouts around kuwait..then ahem…a rail system? yaaar…um maybe when I’m a grandfather….by then we’ll have intergalactic transportation sooo we’ll still be behind 😛

Did they starts with this?
I have always suspected the digging and installing of large pillars on the ground on the airport road between Khaldiya and Shuwaikh to be related to this rapid transit system.

I actually don’t think Traffic in Kuwait is as bad as elsewhere. When I was in Canada I used to take the Subway (because it’s a lot cheaper than owning a car with high gas prices there + taxes + insurance + high maintenance costs etc). However, another reason why I couldn’t justify a car was because of the insane traffic levels when I needed it most. I’m all up for having a Kuwait metro but saying Kuwait’s traffic has reached a CRITICAL level is not accurate in my opinion. It takes me no longer than 15-20 minutes to reach my office in Kuwait city during traffic from Jabriya in the morning. I mean yeah we have a lot of traffic but it actually moves a lot faster than the countries in the Western hemisphere. Sure weekend traffic can get bad but that’s usually due to accidents or people who tend to try and pick up girls and end up stopping traffic.

I have a feeling once this metro is open, we’ll soon have “Kuwait Metro Fight” videos to compliment the “Avenues Fight” videos. Haha.

Though I must say, I’d definately use the metro, not sure if too many people in Kuwait would. I’d definately prefer using the Metro instead of driving to work in the morning. It’d also be great for traveling in large groups. Instead of trying to fit into 2-3 cars, you can use the Metro. Can’t wait till this project is done. Hopefully it’ll be soon, I’ve been hearing about it for ages but this is the first time I see any renderings or media regarding the metro.

Haha thank you Qster.

I too feel that sometimes Kuwait over plans. I mean I’ve been hearing about this project for several years now. However, it’s better late than never.

I’m hopeful and maybe it’s just my optimistic personality but I have faith in such a project. EnshAllah it will be done within the next few years.

when pigs fly….

They have been working on 1st ring road for 5 fucking years….they have been talking about the new university campus for 2 decades…they have been promising a new airport for over 10 years…they have been promising to build new water and power plants forever…they havent even fixed the mishrif sewage problem…and you really think they are going to spend billions on a trian for expats to use….MY BUTTTTT!

@bazaar, at least there is one honest and intelligent person in Kuwait – you. It is a sham, whilst they paint all these rosy pictures of new airports that are decades overdue and a metro system, decades overdue, they steal all the countries money out the back door. You have been made fools of in the GCC. Wake up Kuwait!

Great! But… I just wandering how many ages takes it to finish? :S First finish this stupid junction layout at end of 1st ring road 🙁 I’m losing 40 minute of my life everyday because of traffic jam here. And there is maximum two or tree worker only any time of day 🙁 If government planning build metro same as 1st ring, yes they cab finish it after 150 years for sure 😀

seriously guys, wishful thinking. what railroad and what metro…..just a refreshment: 1st ring road??? (8 years to complete), 5th ring road?? they stopped counting….silk city?? (20 years and they stopped talking about it)…new airport etc etc etc etc

if it takes 8 years to do a standard road, then building a metro system will probably take a good 20-30 – 40 years.

– Create another business area like Kuwait city (on the other side ) ahmadi side

– Make the roads bigger

– Make better use of police men

Imagine what will happen in the next 5 years if Kuwait City kept opening new offices and towers, more and more people working in it, and the roads are the same ..

Looking Forward inshAllah for a better transportation service. All that I hope is that the law enforcement to be very strict on smoking and littering. I wish immigrants and residents respect this once it’s built and in use. Thanks for sharing, it’s Awesome!!!

“similar to the Dubai Metro but with a potential to be better”

I am quoting this because if and when Kuwait ever builds the amazing pie in the sky I would like to see them try and keep it at a standard like Dubai.

Right now the present public transport system is abused by local thughs who eat ,abuse defensless workers, smoke, damage seats , use the walls and other areas as their personal graffiti easles, break window panes and get away it.

Do you really think they will respect the new public metro. Let the law enforcers protect the public property we have now and enforce the no smoking in malls law now; before the metro comes then will I believe it will better Dubai

A major problem in Kuwait is a weak MOI, true and until they get a handle on the hoogligans that are taking over the malls, buses, preying on the weak, the country can’t move forward on a metro project. BUT this project must come to fruition, because the country needs an alternative transportation system and they need to upgrade the bus stops, buses so it encourages people to use alternative transporation. I think the government is flashing all these project pictures around the internet because they are scared of the streets right now. They know that they have gotten away with the negligence of the country for decades and it appears ‘the people’ are realizing that they have been shammed when the subject of cash payoffs that are currently being discussed in the media.

Probably not in my lifetime, or nobody’s lifetime…not this year, not this centuary, not this era…never perhaps?
Been hearing about this and several other stuff forever…To me this is just BULL****

thank you

i think they must find a very fool people to belive of this joke
we have much more proplems than make a trail way
– health proplems
– education
– food problem
and i think this is most important than the rail way
