Safat 2.0 Beta

I am currently trying to see if I can improve safat. I know Nibaq is really busy and since Nat is out of town I have a lot of free time so last night I started working on what I think safat should be like. I don’t really have a major problem with safat I just think the theme should be changed into something neater and that Nibaq should move away from the Drupal software which he currently uses over to WordPress.

The site where I am testing my version of safat is 248pm.com (finally found a use for it). At the moment I just have some of my favorite blogs listed since I am just working on the basic look and layout. Its still beta ofcourse and I am keeping it very simple with a web2.0 feel. Check it out. [Link]

Note: This is what I am recommending for safat, its not sanctioned by Nibaq or the Safat board of directors…

update: just got the full list of bloggers from Nibaq and added them to 248pm feeds. By tomorrow it should be working smoothly like safat. Also it checks for new feeds every 15 minutes so it should be faster then safat.

update 2: so far 248pm.com is getting feeds faster then safat which is what I predicted. I replaced the Store link on the top navigation bar of this blog with 2:48PM since its more practical that way.

i only have like 5 people i think listed there, its still work in progress. the final result should be neutral and not reflect any other site specially mine.

so u wana see it through?
cool, if u can make it preview the article to a certain extent, like 50 words per post or something, that would make it more efficient, plus a post will not take a big part of the page.

Finally got my WordPress + Feedwordpress setup installed but facing some issues after you suggesting it yesterday. I dont think it is handling 250+ feeds very nicely and just dying on the updates of some of them. So it is missing posts.

Also I am looking at the code so it saves the posts under the blog titles name and not the author name. That would make it easier to archive. So it shows safat.kuwaitblogs.com/248am instead of safat.kuwaitblogs.com/mark.

Yet if it can’t handle the load of 250+ blogs I can’t use it.

i have one problem with it

it catch all the posts , there are posts with 2 pictures and some text and it simply catch it all , reducing the intrest of people clicking and visiting the site

also if someone posted a loooooong post it may catch it all

i think its because of the format of the feed. some people just have short paragraphs others have images and stuf.. i dont know how this stuff works
