The Last Flight to Kuwait

Flight 149

I started watching this documentary/movie called The Last Flight to Kuwait which talks about the British Airways flight 149 that landed in Kuwait just as Iraq was invading back in 1990. I don’t know how accurate it is but it looks like its based on facts.

There always was a conspiracy surrounding the reason the BA flight landed in Kuwait. According to Wikipedia the flight landed after the invasion had begun but according to the documentary it landed just before. In any case, the documentary talks about the reason the plane landed in Kuwait which was because there were eight MI6 (the British secret intelligence service) agents that the British government wanted to position in Kuwait. It sounds very plausible especially since there is no other reason why BA didn’t cancel the flight like every other airline that night.

If you can manage to get a hold of the movie its definitely worth watching. The movie is a combination of real footage from the war, reenacted scenes and interviews with some of the passengers and crew of that flight.

Where can I buy that movie-any ideas, please e-mail me at [email protected]. My younger brother and parents where there, and my brother will not talk about any of what happened, but he told my other brother it was a real depiction of the civilians in Kuwait. I want to understand what changed him so very much from the brother I knew.

my husband is in that documentary and it really is terrible as it landed almost 5 hours after the invasion and there were special service men on board – the things they do are just incredible eh? Leni if you want a copy of the film try the production company….type last flight to kuwait in google and you should be able to track them down

I have not seen the documentary yet to know how accurate the story is. However, I was there at the SAS Hotel when the flight crew and the ASSAULTED and RAPED stewardess were brought in. The Young Indian Stewardess was distraught, crying and being supported by her fellow Ladies from the crew as they walked her in through the Hotel doors. I was maybee 4 feet away from her and the folks helping her. The Lady was about 5Ft. 5 or 5 Ft.6, with long auburn hair, weighing maybe in the vicinity of 145/150 Lbs.She was sobbing and hysterical and she could not even walk on her own. Luckily later either the British ar Indian Authorities came in to the SAS Hotel and took her away, I supposed to safer surrounding. I have committed her sagga to my tapes upon my return to the US after Saddam released all of us. Of course I got back to Chattanooga on December 12, 1990 and my tapes were made on January 11, 1991.This Young Lady’s odessy as well as the oddessy of the KLM Pilot are all committed into my tapes fresh as a new returnee from my ordeal with Saddam and his madness. As a reference do check me out on google as: ElMIloudi Hamid. Also you can read about me in the book written by the Honorable Nathaniel Howell, US Ambassador, Kuwait during the crisis period. Please refer to crisis management, invasion of Kuwait, University of Virginia publishing. My nickname is Mr.” Greenjeans” since I have grown the garden at the US Embassy, Kuwait. For my clarifications or extra info contact me : [email protected]

Dear mr hamid.

I came to read your experience. My two sister, her husband and their three children ( baby 6 month) were in that flight. The Got stranded in the plane too. From the story she told us They were taken to the hotel as A hostage.the soldier refuse to supply milk for her baby. She had to feed her baby with cold water. There are very rude instead.

Two days until the anniversary. I remember being told two days after the invasion that there were 5 SAS guys in Fahaheel who had boarded a BA flight on the night-(I was living in Mahboula)- that was before any movie was made or claims in Parliament. Therefore I firmly believe that the story is true and a shame on the UK govt.

At the time I was also told that the Iraqi officer in charge was so angered that he gave a gun to the BA captain and told him to shoot the rapist. I don’t know how true that was.

Hey Mr. Hamid!

The officer did offer to let the BA captain xecute the (supposed) rapist. Probably a Kuwaiti. However, I don’t believe he was as angry about the rape as he was nervous that he would be held responsible after Maggie Thatcher immediately went after Saddam for that incident.

BHD ( Big Handsome Devil) is that you? remember not many would know what BHD stand for except those like me to whom you told the story. If this is you Jack, I am delighted to see you on the page. It has been a long time since I accessed Google and my page and mainly this write up. What a surprise to see you. Hey Brother I lost all of your contacts. Please, if you happened to read this, contact me on [email protected]. Good news: my case against Iraq is finally comming to a conclusion thanks to Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama. Bush 41 screwed me and the others but Barak/Hilary came to the rescue, matter of fact the resolution to our case was signed 3 weeks ago in Bagdad and right now we are waiting for the Iraqi Congress to adpot the resolution so we can get paid by the end of 2010. Was a long time coming Brother. How are you and yours? Hope all is well.
contact me, please, so we can exchange phone numbers, etc. Have a good one.

In the famous words of Paul Revere= “don’t tread on me”. Herein we are talking about a real situation where life was in danger and people were at harms way. You CLOWNS then to inject your UNSAVORY comments. I wish you were there to experience the events with machine guns pointed at you. Possibly you would have urinated in your pants. So move on and leave your arm chair humour to youselves. Go away from my page and the page of the HEROES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was on that flight – I’ve started posting as much info as I can collate there.

The flight was used to land British military operatives into Kuwait at least 5 hours AFTER the US informed the British Government of the invasion and presence of troops and tanks approaching the airport.

I have not received any compensation from BA nor the UK Government, despite 131 days as a hostage.

Please take a look at the page, like it 🙂 and share with your FB friends

Thanks

Barry

BG and Deb told me they were heard the invasion was beginning on the newscast on the flight which they believed was prepackaged while in London. So why wasn’t the flight rerouted to any of the other international airports in the area outside of Q8?

Too many years ago now for anyone to care but it’s still pretty fresh in my mind.
