Today both Viva and Zain launched their 5G networks in Kuwait. Neither of them have yet to announce their plan details but instead have set up registration pages for those interested in 5G. Viva have slightly more information up on their website including a 5G coverage map and a frequently asked questions page. If you’re interested in 5G, check out the links below:
Also here is a great writeup on 4G and 5G bands in Kuwait.

i wonder how are they going to maintain their 5G towers with Huawei being in trouble, Huawei does all the 5G Cell towers, if im correct.
They’re not in trouble in Kuwait
Anyone know if a person has a Huawei phone and travel to the US with it – will there be problems?
Huawei phones arent illegal in the US if they are for your own personal use. You cant sell them or trade them.
Hi, I have a Huawei P20 Pro and ai went to the US for two months- March and April. The problem is not even the ban. Huawei phones don’t work with data frequencies used in the US. I looked it up online before going and I thought I’d be fine but I didn’t have access to mobile data at all. I was using T Mobile fyi. I’d recommend using another brand like Moto, One Plus or Samsung.
I went to the US with the same phone, no problem with T-Mobile.
I hope its not 3 year contract with 5 Gb daily limit for 55 kd
Plus kidneys
If Zain Beam is 40kd/month for 40mbps and 5G is 10 times faster than that, it’s more likely that 5G plans will be more than 40kd/month with limited data options. But if it’s cheaper like current 4G plans, rip beam users.
Regular 4G is like 60mbps or even 120mbps depending on where you live and that’s like 15kd a month or so. You can’t compare to Beam, they’re different .
How will beam be better than 5G if prices are similar?
Beam is different because you’re getting a constant stable speed. For example since I installed it 3 months back I’ve had a constant 30Mbps connection. 4G on the other hand fluctuates depending on time of day and area you’re in. No idea if 5G would be similar to 4G or Beam, my guess is that it would also fluctuate like 4G.
Oh ok. yeah it will fluctuate and might even switch to 4G when 5G signal is weak? idk. If 5G fluctuates between 100-400mbps, I don’t mind 😂
+1 to what Calvin said. If the company promises up to 1 GB, and I am getting around 100 MBPS, I really would not mind
My 4g has been acting off recently, do u thing it’s cuz of the 5g launch or is there a daily limit of GB’s?
Ooredoo also has announced.

So my area is not covered yet, and I thought I’d register, but then I remembered I have their number blocked, so I guess I’m just gonna check their website every now and then
With everyone jumping to 5g maybe my 4G will start to work… Zain Egaila…… BOO….
Word of advice that before you go ahead and sign up to an expensive 5G contract, do make sure that your intended device (mobile, computer etc) can take advantage of the 5G signal.
Right now I understood there is only one router that works with our 5G band and no phones yet.
OnePlus 7 Pro is 5G compatible.
True, if you get a 5G modem/router that provides Wi-Fi to all your devices, you’re good. If you don’t want a router, buy a 5G-supported phone. You will not magically get a 5G signal on your phone just because you’ve subscribed to a 5G plan with your sim.
Yep, and be careful, a lot of devices advertise “5G” but what they really mean is 5Ghz frequency Wifi. Gotta do your research.
I don’t see any reason to switch, pretty happy with 4G. Although I’m sure it’s magically going to get extremely slower when 5G goes mainstream.
Will 5G be be suitable for situations like yours, Mark?
Don’t know, viva doesn’t even have 5G for Salmiya at the moment based on their map and I’m also stuck with Beam for the next 2 years, but hopefully Zain might increase the speeds of the beam packages once they launch 5g
That’s weird, I live in Salmiya too and VIVA says I’m covered.

5G comes with lot of health issues radiation related; can anyone throw more light one this?
No it doesn’t. You could spend the rest of your life with a 5g phone stuck to your face, and you are still more likely to get heart disease and die of it than any radiation related health issues.
There’s a lot of compelling evidence that it does harm, and a lot of compelling evidence that it doesn’t harm.
Yes if you stare at the router you might boil your eyes. Do you like them hard or soft boiled?
This is what i came across today

And now magically all of the companies will have the same price.
In other words, cartel.
Super excited that I’ve got 5g coverage in my area I’ve been suffering for too long with a measly 2mbps connection. With this, I can actually expect a decent online experience since the big thing about 5g is the extremely low latency and the added speed bonus of atleast 100mbps to a theoretical 10gbps is also nice even if at the absolute worst case scenario when I get just 100mbps that is still amazing. I don’t know if 5g routers will allow all devices to have 5g speeds then what’s the point in qualcomm creating a new chip for 5g devices.
+1
“5G but with the speed of 4G and if you don’t settle your bill on time… we will slow your internet down to 3G.” -every telecom carrier in Kuwait
As far as I know, one needs to be in direct line of sight of the 5g tower to establish a connection. Will it mean we will have to glued to our windows?
That can’t be true cuz there is no way you can get direct line of sight to any tower unless you’re on a roof of a building and then it’s still a maybe

Viva stated it clearly in thier FAQ :
9. Can I enjoy 5G service with my current VIVA plans?
No, you have to subscribe to 5G plans to get the benefits of 5G technology.
So we will be blackmailed for a Pricey 5G plans !!
” Multiple carriers are now predicting that they’ll segment their 5G service prices in the future by speed thresholds and even latency, but for now their challenge appears to be largely in achieving reliable performance at or near their promised “average” 5G data speeds.”

#stop_5g_kuwait
you and the Flat Earthers two sides of the same coin
Zain 5g here in salmiya
Those 5g maps are not updated , more areas are covered now
Im getting a very solid 24/7 1gb download speed
Games latency are not much improved, however its a clean internet no packet loss comparing to 4g
Also make sure to test you max speed is to use any download client (download manager ) and try a server that support this fast speed ( aka youtube or rapidgator …etc
Use cable to get the 1gb speed or u will be limited to the wifi client you using (iphone max still wave 5)
Samsung s10 wave 6
Hope this help
I understand that there is only one 5G phone that being sold at the moment in Kuwait (officially I mean), which is the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G..
Did anyone try other brands? Like s10 5g or note 10 5g?
I heard that because the towers are from Huawei, they are not following standard frequencies that enable devices from other manufacturers to connect to their 5G bands!
Anyone can confirm or deny such?
I just saw a person who bought Galaxy Note 10 (5G) and he had almost 1G download , I think the phone is not officially released in kuwait , but anyway the person did take some pics of the speed at his twitter account
Twitter acc : FRANKOM
– SIDE NOTE :
i have ONEPLUS 7PRO (5G). And it doesn’t work in Kuwait sadly i don’t know the problem yet
