Car Crashes into Al-Rifai

strange car accident

I went to work today to finish up a couple of jobs before starting my 10 day vacation. I was on my way back home when I spotted this strange accident. According to eye witnesses at the scene, there was a woman parked in front of the store and instead of hitting reverse she put the gear on drive and ended up climbing up 3 steps into the store.

Update: The location of this Al-Rifai branch is in Baghdad Street, Salmiya.

cant believe it- im not one to stereotype people (usually) but Kuwaitis and Saudis are THE worst drivers in the world, no competition at all.

Women in the middle east tend to have problems driving! And Im saying this out of experience! They are oblivious to everything on the damn road!
if the car starts moving forward UR GOING THE WRONG DIRECTION!!!!

I was thinking of putting a tactical driving course in Kuwait!! Screw the damn schools here! They dont do shit!! Its annoying as hell! And on top of that they dont teach you crap and they drive rediculously slow!

The damage to the shop done will be in 100s of kds i believe. As they say shit happens, and this is a classic example.seeing from the shop, looks like a bakaalah or a barber shop.

Mark, correct me if i am wrong. The look on the face of the customers visiting the shop will be good.

their hands are holding mobile phones most of the time than the steering. Left hand for holding mobile, Right hand for adjusting the head scarf. In between all these they are finding time to do make up(or mock up) and shout at others who horn to alert them…

Mark,
Compliments on a very good piece of photo-journalistic blogging. Well done.

Sorry but I found the photos funny ( I do hope no one was hurt though)

It is one of those freak accidents.

Now I wonder what the comments would have been like had the driver been a man? 😛

sorry but if you think i should blur the number for privacy thats stupid. its on the front and back of the car in plain sight for everyone to see when driving so why should i blur it? if the license plate number was something private it would be hidden in the glove compartment.

OK, you lot. Now you are all in the SHIT!

I bet that I could wipe the floor with you lot if there was a competition to test driving skills.

What about all those idiots that spend their time talking on the phone whilst smoking their fags and adjusting their headgear / combing their hair? What about the guy that I saw driving down the Fahaheel Expressway whilst on the phone, smoking a cigarette WITH HIS LEFT FOOT STICKING OUT THE WINDOW? Or the father who let his small child of about 5 sit on the sun roof of the car whilst doing 100kmph on the Fahaheel, and thought it was funny when I gave him a look of horror? Or the idiot fathers who let their children sit on their laps whilst doing 120kmph down the expressway? Or the juvenile delinquents who race down the 303 in the dead of night between the 208 and 209, only to wrap their Camaros and Corvettes around the street lights/trees/each other. Yeah, they’re really good drivers!

one minute difference between both posts, jesus mark, why so much hate against the kuwaities dude.

chill down, we love u man.

Inspite of guys doing so much stunts, their percentage when compared to women in causing accidents is less.

The worst I’ve seen a lady carry her child (who seemed less than 2 yrz old), & she was on the fone… & yet she was driving..

Talk about Multitasking

I was informed by someone that the pictures are posted on the site. You guys really dont know what happened. I thought it was a drive-in Al-Rifai.
I dont care my number coming up in pics as most of the news papers put pics with number plates clearly seen.

Im not going to argue with u Mark for i’ve been talking about a totally different issue. concealing others identity when publishing goes under (Codes of Ethic & Professional Conduct) which you should be knowing more about than i do being in the media business, no big deal anyways just wanted to clarify my previous comment on your post. Good day.

I agree with Susan; women are not worse drivers than men. Drivers in Kuwait suck generally. I don’t think it has anything to do with nationality or gender or class. It has more to do with the general apathy people feel about following rules that actually help society (though they are quick to jump on the bandwagon about rules that harm us—like banning books, music, and dvds, boycotting Danish products, etc.). There is a general arrogance and simple lack of good manners when it comes to driving here. How a glass storefront and three rather large front steps could be mistaken for a drive-through is a mystery.

oceanus….excuse me..how many times you have seen a newspaper in Kuwait Hiding the number plate? When reporting a news event , I dont think that its a big deal. Even if, what is she going to lose if number is out? who takes the pain to go into traffic dept to pullout the details when no one has time to do our own business.

Hey Man ..i saw a Pic of the accident in the news paper today..ur’s is much better than wht they r showin 🙂
