First Impression: The Noodle House

I woke up today hungry and after checking a few blogs I found Ansam’s post on The Noodle House. The food looked and sounded good so I decided I would pass by them for lunch.

I got there around 2:30 expecting the place to be packed but surprisingly there was just one table occupied. Thats a good thing since I don’t like places that get too packed. I quickly knew what I wanted to order since I was having everything Ansam had recommended, chicken satay for appetizers, fried honey & sesame chicken for the main course and I ordered plain steamed rice on the side. Nat ordered spinach and vegetables dim sum for her lunch.

The chicken satay arrived and the first thing I notice is how huge the quantity is. I grabbed a stick and dunked it in the accompanying peanut dip and took a bite. It wasn’t that great. It was fine enough to eat right then but I wouldn’t order it again. The chicken was over cooked, it was hard and tough while I could barely taste the flavor of the sauce. Then when the fried honey & sesame chicken arrived I noticed it looked different than the one Ansam had. I actually pulled up her blog on my phone to compare with the picture she took. Her chicken had a nice color and looked soft while mine looked overcooked. I took a bite and again the chicken was very dry and tough.

Before I get to the positives there was one more thing that I didn’t like and that was the way the different types of noodles were presented. Those of you who’ve been to a steak house like Gaucho will know how before you order a steak they bring out all the cuts to show you what is what. Well they brought out a little plate with different types of noodles on it. In theory it sounds like a good idea but their execution was horrible. First the plate was white and so were the noodles which made them invisible. A second reason why you barely see them is because they display only a tiny piece from every type of noodle. Not a little pile of noodles, just a single 2cm long piece. They looked taped to the plate with their names stuck on top and then the whole thing covered in a clear plastic wrap. It looked horrible and not appetizing whatsoever.

Now the positives. Nat enjoyed her dim sum but I wasn’t interested in trying it. The service was really good and it was a beautiful day so the view was nice. It’s too bad I didn’t enjoy my food, maybe it was a bad day or maybe I ordered the wrong things. The next time I think I am going to try their Sweet & Sour Chicken and maybe a prawns dim sum.

Mark, next time you may order Spicy Lime Chicken, I am sure you will love it. I just had it yesterday and it was awesome.

To have a good chinese restaurant in Kuwait you must follow these guildlines:

1-Deep Fried
2-Sugar loading
3-Fat Fat Fat
4-Carb the hell out of it

Viva P.F. Changs !

I have eaten in Noodle House (Dubai) and I thought the food was great. Didn’t even know they had started in Kuwait.
The prices look very low compared to what I remember paying in Dubai about 2 years back.

best 2 places for noodle and Chinese food is Wagamama and P.F Change these 2 have 100 % pure satisfaction

Bu Khaled: totally agree. ate at both last weekend and enjoyed ’em. PFC was good and will only get better with time. PFC does need to get their usual rice as the white and brown rice served was average at best.

Looks like they tried to serve you chicken jerky. Doesn’t look appetizing at all.. And the noodle selection display is WOEFUL! Why can’t they bring out a whole bowl or jar of uncooked noodles? It’s not like they’re expensive..
I was thinking of trying them out but I think I would have laughed out loud when they brought a plate of single noodles out.

As for PFChangs! Please! Someone tell them that their waitstaff needs to get it together! Omg the wait there is TERRIBLE! 10 minutes before our waiter even comes to greet us, 20 minutes just to get drinks.. another 20 for the apps to come and then another 30 for the mains. And you almost have to stab the b******ds to get your check.
I’m hoping that problem fleshes itsself out with some time but my husband absolutely refuses to go there anymore 🙁

Hi just went to noodles house loved the place view is fantastic and staff are so welcoming. i had taste the honey sesame before even reading this blog i have different option its so nice i just had to removed my sesame seeds… and after i had a roasted duck which made us so full so manager offered me jasmine tea for easy digestion i guess…lol well overall experience is so nice ill defintely come back

as per PFC come on its too expensive seriouly and the manager in the reception god!!! is so serious dont know why i didnt feel so welcome so i had to walked out.

it was our first time me and nagla so we didnt know much about that there is too many type of noodles so instead of ordering whatsoever staff guided us and showed us this samples its really smart way of showing it.

Yeah the food looks different… The honey chicken we ordered was actually honey colored! Yours is brown, and the chicken satay looks hard at the end and its over smothered with sauce!! I hate it when restaurants cant keep up with their food items!
