Sneak Peek: The brand new NBK.com website

I’ve been given the go ahead by NBK to give you all a sneak peek into the brand new NBK website. They will be launching their new updated website sometime this month but before they go live they want to get some feedback. They do care what everyone thinks and if anyone spots any issues or has any comments on what they need to improve leave your comment below so they can read it. Check out their new website by visiting beta.nbk.com

Just a quick look on the first page, when the big 1801801 banner comes up it has in big writing “Click here to make a complaint” its a bit negative for a front page big banner, also the al-jawhara calculator would seem a bit offensive to anyone who could understand what jawhara is, it tells you are chances against what ? it just says you have 1 chance, 1 from how many is what i would like to know, if you dont want to tell then remove the calculator

another thing, if your going to re-do the online banking please consider safari and chrome users, in the brokerage accounts site the whole thing is a mess when you use safari or chrome.

– Too much blue !!! It needs to tone down the blue color a bit
– The “Latest news” font is not same as the rest of the site font, sometimes it changes to bold and completely changes.

I like that the site is not a crowded one

Another thing ,,, it is not easy to navigate !! I did not know that I had to go to MENA and choose Kuwait in order to access the website !!
I was clicking here & there and by chance I got there !!!

Another thing ,, when you use the any of the menu items you dont get the feel that the items are clickable,,, it does not change to shaded ones !!

Another thing ,,,, the chances of winning Al Jawhara is how many OUT of how many????!!!
I found it very misleading and complete BS !!!!! I hate it when NBK tries to play it SMART !!! and mention only 1/10 of the information !!

TYPICAL NBK ,, NO TRANSPARACNY WITH CUSTOMERS !!

I also dont like the fact that when you go to the main nbk website u get greated with the corporate website. but once i clicked on kuwait now everytime i go to the website it takes me to the kuwait version. but i still think its confusing the first time, it should check where i am coming from and send me directly to my countries page. so if u check from egypt u go to the egypt nbk site, if u check from kuwait u go to the kuwait nbk site.

1- The navigation text links are not aligned properly all together at the baseline
2- Well this is not a mistake, but I think it can be prevented, I think there is no need for showing the water being spit out of Merlion (the lion statue), looks like its being spit over The Kuwait towers. I think it could be just fine without the water.
This is the image highlighting the mistakes https://www.patricksemaan.com/projektcyan/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/nbk_mistakes.jpg

Mark, I agree. I just figures that I have to click on KUWAIT, then NBK (although its not clear that you have to do that). They should have an option, where you tick a check box that says something like: Remember my location for the next time, which if you tick, will always take you to the page you selected and if not ticked, will give you the choice to select any time you login.

Another thing, on the corporate website, might not be considerate a mistake, its more of an opinion, the drop down menus does not show you that they have sub-menus contained, unless you actually mouse over them. Usually, for easy and friendly use, menus that contain sub-menus have a little arrow or icon pointing to that, something like > or >>

The Kuwait NBK website has them properly.

I tried to send a complain an it doesn’t go through. Big complaint banner that leads to no where. just great !

It’s nice, but as Mark said, the location thing.
And it will also be better if u can have access to ur account from the main page (easy access)

if they really care about our feedback then tell them this….

We can barely remember one password, how the hell are they expecting us to remember SIX passwords, FIVE questions and a passphrase?!

It is really stupid to deactivate the money transfer feature after couple of months, especially if we are abroad and couldn’t remember one of the half a dozen of passwords we’re required to memories.

NBK keep advertising that they’re one of the world’s safest bank, their security i must admit is one of the most retard compared to other european banks that I have accounts with and using their online services. NBK is not only keeping thieves away, they are keeping us away from our money too!

what i care about is online banking

who cares about their profile and news ?!

they didnt update their online banking for many many years

KFH online banking kicks ass

ok its gr8 but the font is small and the color of the font is too bright they should make it black or dark blue but i prefere black so the web site wont be too blue!

A change is always nice, nothing will be perfect in life, but going a step closer every now and then is appreciated.

What I would like to expect from the new version is higher security measures in terms of digital signatures and ability to use your own TPMs which are now already spread into so many new laptops and desktops, and I don’t see this coming here, this is only a GUI update.

And I was a bit disappointed that my bank of choice didn’t provide me yet with the tools necessary to manage my other accounts abroad, I am Jordanian and was lured to NBK due to the fact that they have branches over there, but after creating the accounts I realized that I can’t manage my account there readily, and I was told there is going to be a dedicated website for abroad branches soon (that was like what .. 2 years ago ?) and they were just waiting some coordination from Kuwait side to link all these websites together. Now one would think that this is the time for this, since already they introduced this “global” first page, but to my big disappointment they failed to satisfy their anticipating customers :-/

Hey, i just got it…

Their group website is beta.nbk.com

the Kuwait banking webiste is betakw.nbk.com

Rasha as a gulf bank customer I can tell you their website is a piece of shit. Reminds me of Yahoo in the late 90s, too much information on one page and too complicated.

I tried to access my online account via the new beta site and it took me back to the old version. I am interested on the new facilities that will be provided (If there are any new facilities)

Many banks have facilities that help the customer better manage his personal finances such as and not exclusive: having a personal accountant that will breakdown your salary or income into monthly expenditures where you can pinpoint how much money will be going to your car installments and your rough estimate of your monthly personal expenditure and your grocery budget etc…

I hope this gets implemented as this is something that will be very useful to many folks.

I hope this msg reaches some one who can take it serious

NBK is the worst Bank have ever dealt with after being a client for over 3 years
They just gave them selves the right to break in to one of my jawhara accounts
Wipe it clean with out even calling or informing me and paid the FULL master card and then turned the limit from KD 1200 to KD 350 I had 2 separate bank accounts they just made up their minds to link them ,take the money and pay for the card that THEY suddenly out of the blues decided to decrease the limit and charge the late fees as wel as the over limit fees !!!!!
What can I call this

When you are logged in on Watani Online on their actual website you cannot access all the banner’s functions if you are browsing with Internet Explorer 8.
I had to use Mozilla Firefox to properly access Watani Online.
I hope their IT department solves this problem with the new website.

There are plenty of things I don’t like about this, not least the layout (why isn’t the online banking log in on the right side for a start?). Things like having a dedicated calculator for Al-Jawhara is just retarded. It is the first on the list of ‘My Tools’ links and all it does is divide your sum by 50 to show you how many chances you have. Does that really deserve such a prominent placement or any placement at all for that matter??!

Where is the overseas money rate calculator??? Used to be on the front page and as an expat use this application daily….Not at all impressed with this new design – too many clicks and menus to navigate – messy.

@MARK

Good point but I dont think they will do it cause this way it looks like “Look at us we are every where” Marketing kind of thing!

Same as Zain .. but in zain I can directly go to kw.zain.com which is great.

take off the angry lion and the Jeddah Towers
take off the news banner or roll it slower
make 1 801801 banner smaller
where are the Exchange Rates
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Thanks Mark

Firstly if they don’t make access easier for customers to log into their account online then the whole process of revamping their website is futile.
Also they should mention foreign exchange rates on their main page which i cannot find in this website. They show the rates on their current website http://www.nbk.com but when you click show all , nothing turns up.

@Tamer

NBK is just for Hamour kind of people.
If you don’t have at least 500,000KD no body gives the shit about you!

@ HeartBeat

you have to have 500K and NOT care about it so they treat you well. They don’t seem to like their customers much, especially the ones who keep asking “where the hell that grand came from? the one that keeps showing every couple of days then disappearing”

the current nbk website is easier for me to go directly to online banking and online brokerage. the brokerage seemed to add more layer hence add more annoyance. is there a way that u could simply this?

A good improvement over the existing one. I never really used to read the front page as I mostly need the watani online. But this new layout actually makes me want to explore more.
For those who say that NBK does not care about their customers, I am surprised. I have always been treated with the utmost courtesy whether it is on their hotline, or visiting their branch in person. In my opinion, they are the probably the best customer oriented company in Kuwait.
My only complaint is that their current login process for Watani online is a bit retarded.

They need to give more info on the various bank accounts like minimum balance, charges, interest rates etc. and the same for the credit cards.

Two main areas that need work are refinement of the website design, but bugs are expected since its still beta; and the actual content/tools that are available on the site.

Lots of small things I noticed and most others mentioned them already apologies if these have already been mentioned:

1. There is no use for the ‘print’ and ‘send to a friend’ links on the bottom of each page. Who did they target this for?

2. The image rotator is too prominent, needs to be reduced in size, and the images need refinement, I mean — what hack photoshop job is this: https://betakw.nbk.com/corporate/$Document/Default/en-gb/BannerAltImage/corporate_en.jpg and https://betakw.nbk.com/careers/whyworkatnbk/$Document/Culture/en-gb/BannerAltImage/Untitled-1.jpg

3. There should be a direct login to the online banking service from the main page. 99% of the users will be using the site to logon to their accounts, and there is no easy way to do this.

4. Add/Remove tools doesn’t work. Remove tools, click on any link, and the menu is reset.

5. When clicking on any of the services/products links, there is very ugly box as the main highlight display is shown.
They should make sure it works in Firefox, IE8 and Safari completely. In IE8 it is near unusable.

6. Poll can be rigged.

Just first few comments, will go through it again later.

So i clicked on "work with us", and a large group picture appeared. I’m sure the intent was to show a random group picture of employees that would maybe lure a viewer to apply there, but seriously? this one? Surely there’s another picture in their archives of a group meeting maybe? or a teller in action?

Other than that I think the website is pretty much all set. I agree with zaydoun, change "complaints" to "feedback". and lets look into online banking a bit more..

Finally, NBK made a change!!!
They are one of the largest banks here in Kuwait, with one of the worst websites for a Bank. Its such a relief to see that they have finally brought about some change…

The website looks nice and clean, although they need to make some major imporvements to their online banking pages they look like win 3.1 compatible editions!!
The drop-down menus on the new website need to be enhanced.
As mentioned by most of the people here, the “call us” banner needs to be fine tuned.
There are a few glitches while using the website on IE 8, the transition animation when u click on the options such as accounts, NBK cards, loans etc comes after the option shows up on the centre screen
The product comparator is a nice interactive add on.
The section on education users on ‘security’ should be made more prominent as it should be a primary concern (not under support).
For a novice web user the site is a little overwhelming, it needs to be tuned to allow easy navigation and allow easy navigation.

I think if they make access with only account number would be easier than ATM card number .
because they always change the ATM card.

Just

1- Use Saved Online ID
2- SiteKey show Your SiteKey Image Title from your choice
3- passcode.

You don’t need ur ATM card nu.

Wow, amazed at so many negative comments about this site. I think it LOOKS great considering:

1. Banks worldwide in general are never particularly ‘daring’ when it comes to website design.
I recently was asked to undertake some quick, one-day research into a few international banks visual language. I looked at RBS (one of the largest financial organisations in the world), CitiBank, Barclays and Dubai Islamic. The one area which let them all down was the lack of imagination contained within the websites. There’s a formula and all banks stick to it.
2. The Gulf region is particularly appalling for websites overall (with some banks and multi-nationals beginning to buck the trend slightly, but slowly)
3. Having worked with NBK in the past (I hang my head in shame to admit I was responsible for the 2007 Annual Report) I know they are not an easy client and this website is a quantum leap for them.

One funny thing was I looked at the little icon which allows you to download the 2008 Annual Report and thought it looked interesting – some nice info graphics, use of shape and space, a hardbound case… etc. When I clicked on the link and viewed the PDF, I found it was (more or less) exactly the same as the 2007 report! Nice cover treatment though.

Since I’m not a customer and not used to using the existing NBK site I can’t comment on the usability compared to the old site, but it seems clean and adheres to a sensible and clear grid.

Works fine in my default browser (Safari on a Mac)

There seems to be a lack of content, with almost all of the pages I clicked on containing PDF files which need to be downloaded to view. Couldn’t some of that information be included in the site itself rather than necessitating downloads to find the information?

Overall, a thumbs up from me and I hope that the usability issues other people have highlighted can be resolved and things move ahead.

Great work.
