Organica Fish & Chips has been open for a couple of years now but I just got to pass by and try it today. I ordered the large fish & chips platter which included 2 pieces of fish along with chips in addition I ordered an extra side order of calamari. I went to the Salmiya branch which has a lot of seating inside but since it was a nice sunny day I decided to sit outside.
While waiting for my meal I got served lemonade which I thought was a nice thing to do. Once my fish & chips basket came I snapped a few pictures before I dug in. I thought the whole basket tasted pretty bland and between the calamari and the fish I think I preferred the calamari. The tartar sauce which I personally believe makes or breaks a meal wasn’t that great either but it did help add some much needed flavor to the meal. On a side note if you want to know what good tartar sauce tastes like go to try it at Sheraton Hotel. Finally the chips were the most disappointing part of the meal, they were undercooked and soft which was a let down.
Overall, even though the fish basket didn’t awestruck me I still think it’s a good place to pass by for a quick bite. It’s not located in a mall, there’s lots of seating, places to park and the food was above average. Price wise the large fish & chips platter goes for KD3.750 (KD2.750 for the small) while the extra calamari cost me an additional KD1.400. They have three locations around Kuwait and if you want to find out more you can visit their website [Here]

Of course the fish is bland………did u use malt vinegar?
I completely agree with this review.
Me too. I thought I was ono of only few who did’t like Organica’s food. Glad to know there are others with my same opinion.
sadly they lost a key member to their management team to D&D prior to D&D’s re-openening … was really nice when we went
Used to be a fan but their chips were consistently bad so we stopped going. Shrimp is horrible. The fish was still good and the tartar sauce wasn’t bad for Kuwait. I would never be able to compare Southern tartar sauce to anything here.
+1 to the tartar sauce!
Undercooked and soft are antonyms.
I thought they were more expensive. I think it’s says online it’s 4 kd for small, is that right? My English friend said they were pretty good. Must have been a while back since he went.
I dont know, maybe they dropped their prices because small is 2.750 and large is 3.750 right now
This is the first time you’ve reviewed a restaurant where I’ve actually eaten. I concur 100% with your review. Good to know. Thanks.
I disagree. Perfect fish and chips, just like home. At least the produce is fresh and the lemonade made on site, not like the rest of the fast food that passes as restaurant fare in Kuwait!
The produce is frozen not fresh I asked
We loved them when they first opened and ate their quite often. We decided to pop in last week and not only had they dropped their prices (slightly), but they had also removed a number of items from the menu. One guy was working, the fish was undercooked and soggy inside, not flaky like fish should be. The french fries were also soggy. Everything lacked flavor and had to be smothered in malt vinegar and sea salt. Sad… they were once so delicious.
The oil the chips are cooked is too cold, chips soak up oil and remain soft and oily!
I have to COMPLETELY disagree with your review, Mark! They have the BEST fish n’ chips in town! Even my father became an Organica fan while he was visiting us in Kuwait LOL I’ve never been to Australia, but I’ve had fish n’ chips in England, and Organica’s f&c was way better than the ones I had in England. Are Aussie style f&c significantly different? Anyhoo, from all the times I’ve visited, their food has always been consistent: nice n’ crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. I just wish they’d bring back their wraps ’cause that was one of my fave items on their menu! 😀
I smell a lawsuit..
don’t make sense.. if anything, this is going to help them improve..
I hated how their stupid knives and forks were made out of wood, I can’t tell you how many times they broke while I was using them. It got to the point that I brought mt own metal knife and fork to their restaurant…..I also had to bring my own ketchup, since all they had was their organic crap.
they must have changed things since i used plastic cutlery and their ketchup was regular heinz
I was really excited when this place opened, I have lived in NZ and Australia so was looking forward to some familiar comfort food, went during lunch time when they had a two for one deal, so the price was great. But the food was not, i went to the jabriya branch, the fish was not fresh, the chips were soggy, I wouldnt go back and unless they have some dramatic improvements I dont think they will last long.
Disgusting place and way overpriced. It used to be a million times better before Katherine left. Now the quality is terrible and frankly,Shitty Shrimpy is better taste plus better value for money…
its not wow but compared to kuwait its good, but im not paying 3.750 kd for a catfish !!
I used to be a huge fan back when it first opened in Fintas. The fish was amazing and so were the chips. I ended up going there quite a few times till I got bored and left it for along time probably a year or so. I just decided to go again last week, and I was shocked the fish is no longer the same as it was before. It was undercooked and the fries was awful. I agree the calamari was tastier than the fish. I don’t know what happened over the course of a year but I hope they go back to how it was before.
