Shawerma Review: Kabab Al Hajat

Kabab Al Hajat are know in Kuwait for their Kababs but recently they started making shawerma and I was curious to know how well it faired up.

Anyone who has ever been to Kabab Al Hajat and tried ordering food will know that there usually its extremely crowded and wait is long. Thankfully the shawerma station there has its own cashier and so is never full. When I passed by they only had chicken shawerma but the guy told me they were going to add meat also soon. I ordered two chicken and a coke, each shawerma costs 250fils and the coke 100fils.

Firstly it is important to point out I had my shawerma at lunch time. Very very few places serve shawerma during the day for some reason, I can only think of maybe 2 or 3 places max that serve shawerma for lunch so Kabab Al Hajat don’t have much competition while the sun is still out.

How did the shawerma taste? Well the garlic wasn’t strong which I usually mark as a bad thing. This time though I actually appreciated it because I was having shawerma during my lunch break and I didn’t want to get back to the office stinking of garlic. The overall flavor of the shawerma though was average, nothing in it stuck out as being amazing and there was no flavor that tasted weird or out of place. They use small Arabic bread not the hot dog one (samoon).

For the final score I would give it a 3.5 out of 5. Since they serve shawerma for lunch I think thats a great thing and I would pass by again for sure. At night though I would rather drive a bit further and get a shawerma from Badar Al Badoor.

Shawerma for lunch? Well, I know I’ll try them for that reason alone.

Mark please do tell what other places serve daylight shawerma; I thought they were nonexistent.

If you want some really good shawrma, i think you should try ” Zad Al Khair ” Mansouria Co-op and ” Farooj ” in Salmiya across from Pizza hut Plajat.

i don’t know if u have already tried it but i strongly recommend
“bo khether” for meat shawarma
“ibn al wazeer” for chicken shawarma

They don’t serve shawarma for lunch for the same reasons why shops in old fashioned malls still close at 1 for no apparent reasons other than that 20 years ago people really needed their siesta and now …well not as much

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: the best kabab in Kuwait is Kabab al-3ragy in Salmiya, next to the Mango World that’s near the roundabout across the street from the Burger King on Plajat st. The BEST.

this might sound stupid, but one of the best shawermas that I’ve had are at the Mishref fairgrounds. When they have the expos, they have those mobile shawerma stands….soooo fuckin good! THat and TABAB!!!!

I don`t know man, but I love sho Sausage shawarma, and shawarmer have really funky fish shawarma..I like to try strange and new food..that what makes them good, they serve new and creative..kick ass food.

I ordered chicken shawrma 750 fills and chicken grilled shish tawook for 2.5 kd from kurdo in salmiya.kurdo was a worst experience we had..the chicken shawrma was k bt had more mayo n less chicken and no value for money..I had eaten better shawrma than this.don knw why they charge more for a small sandwich with less chicken..The chicken shish tawook was terrible..it looked like some leftover because the shape of the chicken was so uneven.. the quantity was less and quality poor..and the taste not good..I guess this is the worst shish tawook I have tasted so far..will give 2/10. Kurdo sucks!!!!!!!
The best shish tawook I have tasted so far is from a shop called istambola..(it’s written in Arabic) near to maroosh restuarant in salmiya..worth for money and quality is too good..
