Uber is Finally Coming to Kuwait

There have been rumors about Uber coming to Kuwait for at least a decade now, and it looks like it’s finally happening. I just found out that Uber will be launching in Kuwait in the coming few months.

Earlier today, the GM of Uber announced at the National Forum for Transportation and Smart Services that the company plans to expand into Kuwait in the first half of 2026.

From what I’ve been told, even though Uber acquired Careem, this isn’t a Careem rebrand. Uber will operate alongside Careem, meaning both services will be available in Kuwait at the same time.

One Uber Black please for me with one brown sugar!
Spin offs of ‘Kuwait UAE brothers forever week,’ eh ?

so nothing is changing regards to the laws of individuals operating uber with their personal cars, its just another taxi service

Yup, a lot of people don’t realize that a lot of countries don’t allow randos to use their personal cars to pick up people. But because uber is so popular in the US where it is allowed and that’s what we all see on tv, there is a misconception that that’s only what uber is. In reality it’s just a simple cab hailing app.

By the way, careem drivers in Kuwait use the Uber app as their interface.. go check :).. So this just means uber is rolling out for us customers

I totally agree with you, just going to the airport by normal taxi its KD 3.500 from Salmiya but the return its KD 8/-

Will this benefit locals getting jobs?

Also how will work for the airport pick-up? I am asking because in Dubai you can get an uber at the airport.
