If you saw the large cloud of black smoke coming out of the city today, it was from the new under construction NBK tower which caught fire earlier today.
I was watching it from my office window before realizing my car was parked in their lot next door so I went to make sure my car was safe. When I got to my car I remembered I had my new Sony A7 III in the car so I ended up snapping some shots and also posted a bunch of videos on my instagram story.
I think all the workers came out safe and there were some who stayed behind to help the firefighters out by using the emergency fire hoses in the parking lot next door.

This reminds me of the time when that building in Salmiya (The one across Gulf Insurance) that caught fire and had 1 death; where is the safety measures? Did somebody leave a lit cigarette nearby?
Well you can’t criticize their lack of safety measures while sitting behind a computer not know what safety measures they had or didn’t havein place and what caused the fire to begin with…

nope no idea
I’m one of the Engineers working on the project. The cause of fire (based purely on the gossip between my colleagues) was the testing of the waterproofing applied on that roof. Water might’ve leaked in and came on contact with a live wire, and that’s what caused it.
PS: the tower didn’t caught on fire, it was the museum. The NBK HQ project consists of three buildings: the tower, bank branch, and the museum. The museum isn’t in or attached to the tower, it has its separate building.

now waiting for my lenses to arrive. i just got the 35mm f/2,8 and the 12-24mm f/4, waiting for AAB World to stock up on the 24-105 F/4 and the G Master 100-400mm. Once i get those will shot a bunch and then do a proper write up

You leave your super expensive camera in the car? I mean even if the area was safe, don’t you worry about the heat of the weather damaging it?
Nope, I just have it shoved into my pelican case and thrown in the back. Never had an issue leaving my camera or laptop in the car
