Solo Tacos is a new local restaurant that opened up just this past Saturday in Kuwait City right next to Solo Pizza. It’s owned by a few people including the owner of Solo Pizza as well as the two Mexican women who used to run the Mexican home catering service I previously posted about, Sahuaro.
The restaurant is pretty small with a few tables inside and outside as well as a bar on both sides of the window to sit on. One wall is covered with photo frames while the other wall has a cabinet with some colorful Mexican wrestling masks on display. Their colorful menu located on the wall on top of the kitchen counter is very focused with just quesadillas, tacos, a bunch of sides and drinks.
I originally ordered just the beef taco but found it so good that I ended up ordering the fish taco as well. Between the two I preferred the beef taco but next time I’ll also have to try the chicken. One of the Mexican partners was there and she told me about how they don’t fry anything and how they don’t even have salt on the tables because they’re trying to keep things as much on the healthy side as possible which I found comforting. On my way out I also got to sample two of their drinks, their Jamaica hibiscus juice (pronounced khamaica) and the Horchata (pronounced orchata) which smelled of beautiful spices and was the one I preferred from the two.
I really liked the food and I’m definitely going back but I also do think it’s a bit on the pricey side. For more information including a map to the location you could visit their website [Here]

Mexican wrestlers, not like any Mexican place I’ve been to, those pictures remind me of Jack Black in Nacho Libre. How much are the tacos? It seems there isn’t a link to their prices, those tacos in Cali are the cheapest to buy after a night out in the club but the prices they charge here is outrageous. I once had a 1/3 bowl of pozole and she charged me 1.500 KD the full bowl was 2.500 KD. These dishes are like addas and shawarma to Arabs which should be cheap in price.
prices are in the menu photo above
Oh yeah, duh…I passed it without looking closely because it had too much going on. 1.750 KD for ONE taco? They’re like 600 fils according to the Alberto’s menu in Cali. Time to hook up with the Latina ladies again.
I jwent there today and I tried their TJ bowl, which includes rice, beans guacamole and your choice of meat. I also had their cheese steak taco and everything was excellent!! definitely going back.
You should definitely try the chicken it was my favorite. I was surprised about the prices too. I asked them about it and they explained that they use ribeye steak and hass avocadoes etc. which are high quality products and obviously cost more. Can’t wait till they start delivering to work!
Goodness gracious I love mexican food. I’m excited this opened up. Going to try it ASAP.
too expensive, Tacos are way cheaper in Taco Bell, btw it’s called Luche Libre, wreslting in mexica.
mexican food isn’t accepted in kuwait, which is why Taco Time closed twice.
It’s a bit pricey for a taco for sure, but Taco Bell is terrible excuse for “Mexican” or any food.
you tried Taco Time? it was awesome.
Is that the one that was near the Rehab complex in Hawalli? If so I did not like it at all :/
Not even talking about real Mexican food, but as far as fast food Americanized versions go, that and Taco Bell are terrible. Chipotle and Qdoba are much better, but we’re yet to see one here.
It’s actually Lucha Libre, not Luche.
oh cool,muchas gracias.
Taco Bell isn’t Mexican food
Any restaurant owned by a Kuwaiti is OVERPRICED! Talk about rip-off prices.
Every restaurant in Kuwait is owned by a Kuwaiti fyi
Agree with proud Kuwaiti, Always overpriced yet i don’t see people stop going to any of them, which actually encourages the owners to increase their prices even more.
Just came back from it, tried their combo ( chicken taco, beef taco, cassadia, and a drink) it was for KD4.5 CMON !
the chicken was tastless literaly, the beef was nice but not super
and the cassadia? loool its a cheese 9aj !!
the laitin lady working there was very friendly and nice, but the food is pricy and not that good to be honest. tried it and i dont think im going again.
quesadilla
I tried all tacos there, and i was really surprised that the fish taco was the best, i recommend it
kinda pricey for the size of the taco you get but i’ll go again
One of the worst restaurants in Kuwait hands down. First of all the food is nowhere near authentic Mexican. I’ve eaten in Tijuana and all over Mexico, and up as far as Texas. Nothing comes close to how poor the quality and taste of Solo Tacos is. Their steak taco was all fat, and one bite into the thing and you could tell just how cheap the quality of their meat is. I woke up the next morning with one of the worst bouts of food poisoning I’ve had in ages, and my stomach has handled wonders over the past few years mind you. You ask for cheese in anything and it’s a small sprinkle that you can’t even taste. Overpriced, poor quality food products, and also in one of the worst locations in the city, literally smelled like garbage, rotting food, and compost (to put it nicely) outside. Just another barely edible restaurant riding on the coattails of it’s barely mediocre pizza partner.
P.S. the Solo restaurants need to learn to stop using 9aj or Irani bread as an excuse for their pizza doughs and quesadillas/tacos.
