Cops Getting Pushed Around

If you’re part of any local whatsapp group, you’ve most likely seen videos similar to the one above. The videos usually show a bunch of guys performing dangerous stunts with their cars, and then a cop car shows up to stop the whole thing and arrest the drivers, but instead, they end up getting attacked or bullied around by the crowd.

Why don’t cops have partners in Kuwait? Instead of one cop per police car why aren’t they two cops per car. That way one has the other persons back. Is it because there aren’t enough cops? Also, are cops here not allowed to use violent force? By violent force I mean shoot the perps because from these videos it looks like the cops aren’t really feared…

they aren’t allowed to use force not even batons, also bc they are usually all bedoiun, wasta qill get the perps out regardless of if they catch them, so the guys will often not comply with the cops.

I think maybe the guy who got beat could sue them and take it to court… and probably win it. I wouldnt be surprised.

in fact, today a citizen won a court case against some doctors for a complication that happened, despite the patient’s signature on the consent form which states these complications!

It seems to just be a random law, like how they are also not supposed to give chase to perps due to it being dangerous for everyone on the road, but i’ve seen a few chases so i’m not sure. Kuwaiti law has a lot of grey areas and that’s were wasta thrives also

I don’t think “shooting the perps” is a solution either. In a world where gun control is an issue and a lot of police officers are misusing their weaponry, guns should be the last resort in these type of situations. Batons, etc probably.

Thanks Mark for pointing out the stupidity in our system. Laying a hand on a police officer in any other country in the world would land you quality jail time, the only reason why this abuse continues to occur in Kuwait, is because the government doesn’t feel it is necessary to clamp down on these so called “kids.”
Knowing they will get away with it is the underlying factor why these incidents keep on occurring.

if there were laws that were implemented properly strictly and harsh sentences, not like 10 years in prison, but 10,000 KD if caught driving recklessley on any camera citizen ctv or police, that would hit them where it hurts. it really has gotten out of hand, 30 years ago. if you ask around then you can find out where these people originally came from, and why they are in Kuwait now.

The other day there was a video being circulated about someone driving in the opposite lane towards oncoming traffic and at a crazy speed…

Am not sure but it looked like he crashed into a Taxi..

Was that guy high on drugs? What became of him ?

lets be honest here…. the cops are either dramatically overweight or look like a pre-pubescent 12 year old boy … no adequate training … and often the worst when it comes to breaking the law driving while on the phone .. pumping the loud music .. and always seem to be queing up for mcdonalds.. they are in fact pointless

Well I see most cops with partners but I realized after a while that standard protocol is for one cop to stay in the car (most likely the driver) while the other steps out to “talk” to the civilian they stopped over.

But then count in other factors where many younger men resent cops for their inconsistent use of laws and many districts doing random checks and giving fines many people do not realize were offences to begin with. After all it is the law but when it is not executed consistently then there is an issue. Also, another factor to consider would be the idea of “was6a” and our political culture and societal norms in Kuwait is not one similar to the US in terms of following the law and nothing like the UK in terms of being a model citizen. This is not to say Kuwait is worse but unique and different even within the Gulf. Where other neighboring countries are efficient with their bureaucracies due to the lack of democracy we are literally facing the ugly side of democracy which causes governance to be slow. So going back to the idea of resent towards cops it could be towards the whole ministry of interior for it’s irrational steps to help solve Kuwait’s traffic problems, when the reality most laws and policies are made from a person in command trying to make a name for themselves.

Hope this rant helped. ( I know I digressed a bit)
