Is there an English tutorial?
the app is not available in English, so doubt there would be a tutorial English
There is a way to switch it to English (on iOS). Open the Sahel app, then switch back to the main screen and open the Settings app. Tap on General, then Keyboard, then Keyboards, then add Arabic keyboard and then switch back to Sahel. You can delete the Arabic keyboard then. The only problem is that you have to do this all the time when you open Sahel.
The vehicle transfer you’ll find in Services tab, then in the list tap on Ministry of Interior, then Traffic Services, then Vehicle Ownership Transfer, then Continue and then you can select add/complete/cancel/inquiry request. The rest is self-explanatory.
After all the news of Sahel app being developed in English 2 years ago, there has been no update to the app for English users, are non-Arabic users being deliberately ignored? Why this kind of third world problems still exist in one of the richest countries in the world will continue to baffle me.
You’re thinking the app is the problem, or that it just needs an English translation. But, as I previously mentioned in my post 2 years ago, the app isn’t the problem. There is already a way to change the app so it’s in English if thats all you need.
The issue is all the ministry communication is in Arabic because Kuwait is an Arabic country. The process of changing the backend so that it’s bilingual isn’t an overnight process and isn’t related to just one department or one ministry. It’s why a lot of other first world countries also have digital services in just one language, and it’s the primary language of that country.
So even if the app was released in English you would you wouldn’t be able to fill out a form in English or view official documents in English. The English version of the app would be handicapped compared to the Arabic version which is why they haven’t released it yet.
Agree, what you are saying makes sense, yes probably would not be able to fill forms etc, but should be easy to at least do the basic transactions like booking an appointment, it would save us from having to constantly change the language continually,now i am not asking to give me all the functionality but if a small hack can change the language through technical means, would it not be helpful to eliminate this unnecessary step completely? there are numerous govt. websites that operate in a similar way where there is no English when it comes to inputting certain data, but at least its not a maze to navigate, also the fact that its been 2 years since they promised an English version with no real changes is disappointing to say the least.
That’s what I meant, if they were going to activate basic things like booking an appointment, then the English version of the app would be completely different from Arabic and lack all the other options. Then you would come on here and complain about how Kuwait is ignoring English speakers and how kuwait has money the English version of the app shouldn’t be handicapped compared to the Arabic.
Also you mentioned the government promised an English version two years ago, do you have a source? From my knowledge they haven’t mentioned anything about an English version or the fact that there will be one eventually.
But, from your experience, how long does it usually take a country to propose, approve and implement a nationwide change for their software backend? Keeping in mind that all the different ministries aren’t even connected together on the same backend? Because I understand you’re frustrated, but you make it sound like this is something thats supposed to take a month and it’s taking 10.

2) I am not asking to go full fledged english update with the app at all, as a person who has to keep exiting, changing the language and coming back in to use the app, i am sure there is a work around to doing that from within the app its simply logical design!
So yes i still feel this is being ignored for users who are from Non-arabic speaking countries.
It seems you’re having difficulty understanding.
1) The government never mentioned they were going to make an English version, there might never be an English version because of how the backend is all in Arabic and not all government employees speak or read English.
2) Your idea of what is logical design is actually very illogical. Having one app but with the Arabic having all the features and English version having a few of the features is extremely confusing for the end user.
3) You say you’re being ignored, but out of curiosity have you ever done any government paperwork in Kuwait? Because it’s been in Arabic for the past 70 years or so why are you just feeling ignored today?

2) There is literally a way to change the language by exiting your app, changing language etc, why is there no way to do this from within the app? I understand completely that the back end is in arabic and the limited use, however i am trying to refer to an example of where the sahel app exits to verify with mobile id and then you have to repeat all the language settings once again because the app was exited.
3) I have been in Kuwait for 30 + years, and pretty much can read arabic, speak it and write it, but the technical terms used in official paper work is something i find difficult to understand, perhaps feeling ignored because most of the govt. based transactions can now be done by the sahel app in todays time, however this limits it only to the people who are fluent in arabic, to those who do not know it (who also are the larger chunk of the population), you are at the mercy of your luck when you visit the respective dept..
