Flight Experience

I just found out about this new activity from a forum user. Flight Experience is a company that allows you to experience flying in the cockpit of a Boeing 737. The cockpit is very realistic and provides you with a 180° view of the outside world. You can choose to fly in out of 24,000 airports and you can even fly around famous landmarks like London Bridge or the Sydney Opera House. The sessions vary in length and are either 30mins, 45mins, 60mins or 90mins and each session is led by a trained flight simulator instructor (most of whom are actual pilots).

The sessions start from KD39 and they are currently in the soft launch phase and are preparing for their full opening sometime by the end of the month. You can also get a video of your flight plus a picture of you in the cockpit (at an extra cost). The picture on top of this post is of the actual flight simulator cockpit.

Flight Experience is located on the last floor of 360 right on top of TGIF. Here is a link to their website [Link]

Thanks Burhan

Another flight simulation center is opening at the discovery mall by end of this month. This one will also be having fighter airplanes as well.

Did this in Singapore, same company. Its a franchise actually. If your an aviation buff then its really cool and yes the prices are expensive but its not THAAT much more than it is in Singapore..

This plane is very realistic, as though you are piloting a Boeing 737-800, only thing is its not a moving simulator, if u want that you gotta fork out a lot more moula and head to a real simulator that airlines use.

Yes Amar, it is a franchise and the same one as in Singapore. The kuwait branch is the 5th in the world after Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Singapore. You should try it. It is amazing!!!

i thought i and my friend both can go, but do we need instructor its just a simulator they can explain us what to do and we can do what ever we want to do .

No it doesn’t work like that. There are 4 seats, and one is reserved for the trainer, and the captains chair (left) is where you sit. There are two jump seats (just like in the real thing) which your friends can sit in.

It is not a “game”, but rather a taste of how it is to fly a commercial airliner as professional pilots do.

man thats amazing i love flight sims, and its not expensive, these sim machines cost a bundle, the only problem with such a business is its niche market, they are kinda eshway. But love the idea.

Hey i want to really become a Pilot ! after my 12th exams get over i would like to visit this place and is there any real Pilot to consult with about the information of how to become a Pilot !?

39 KD seems expensive for 30 minutes. For an hour, they’re charging 55 KD…I think Qaiss is exactly right when he said its a Niche Market. I wonder if the 30 minutes reffers to the flight time and instructions (in which case you’re probably off the ground for 10 min) or just the flight time…

Q80Saracen: you know i like this flight sim so much that i researched it, and wanted to open one in Kuwait, but again no need for a franchise. The flight sim cost 35,000 euro’s. So do a small analysis and you can see that the fee has to be high to cover the machine within 2 to 3 years.

from the forum.. “The simulator is licensed from Boeing and costs somewhere around $500,000”

So this one is a bit more then 35,000 euros 🙂

Qaiss: I took your advise and went ahead with a small analysis. My assumptions were the following, (which I believe to be conservative):

6 hours a day, 5 days a week at the hourly rate (55 KD which is actually discounted and doesn’t take into consideration the 30 min users which are charged more by the minute).

I wasn’t sure what expenses they had so I added rent and instructor, at 2000 KD which seems fair for just one room with a machine but I took into account the zoning issues and how it effects rent.

At the current pricing, without working a full day or full week (8 hour day, 6 day week)…they break even at the end of year 2 and have an IRR of 40%. This was using Mark’s 500K figure.

I wish them the best, but it seems to me that a friendlier price would still have them on the winning side and who knows…they may win at the end through volume. As of now, its seems over priced to me. Again, this was a simple analysis.

I have been there and I agree with you all it is expensive.
It’s not a full motion Simulator so the prices mentioned above are not correct. It’s just a replica of 737 cockpit and 4 screens.

I guess they will reduce prices once Airbus Simulator opens up in Discovery mall.
