Is it me or does anyone else find it weird that the first activity listed on the Kuwait Tourism website are the smart toilets? It’s even more apparent on mobile phones since the first activity that comes up when scrolling down are the toilets.

I’m just surprised it’s not number one AND number two.
Badum tuss
Or the only one…
Because that’s the only thing you can do rn if you ain’t vaccinated yet.
Plus the fact they demolished Entertainment City, Ice Skating Rink, Shaab Park and Aqua Park.
and closed down Ras Al Ardh Sea Club in ras salmiah starting March 2021. supposedly to demolish and re structure
Dude, as a tourist my first priority has to be clean Toilets. They have highlighted that in a smart way possible. Lets try to appreciate it.
This speaks alot about the state of tourism here.
Apart from the smart toilets there are 13 other tourism sites listed on their website menu 😳 12 of them from the 80s and 90s! The exception being cable park. Way to go TEC, so proud of your work.
It’s the only accomplishment by TEC in decades. Of course its going to be top listed. Heck, I bet there are managers and directors at TEC listing those toilets on their CVs as achievements xD
I find it funny not because they’re celebrating public toilets, but because the whole smart toilet thing was not their original idea but something that was presented to them probably by the smart toilet supplier. At around the same time those toilets were commissioned in Kuwait they popped up in other places in the Gulf.
I don’t go to mubarakiya because of the toilets. Holy heck! They are nasty.
Not only that it is unnecessarily placed on the MAIN page, but if you look at the footage, it starts with a shot/thumbnail that shows you how dirty the floorings of this touristic place is.
Also this means, if I am exercising on sea-front, etc. I have to have my KNET card with me, which many athletes leave behind in cars or near-by cluck lockers.
What stops me from waiting for the last one to exit to hold the door for me to enter?
How do cleaners access?
What stops a cleaner from admitting a person-in-nned? A Lady-in-need? The Surveillance cameras?
What a waste of resources watching who sneaks into our toilets for free when 100s of millions are stolen in governmental projects.
All in all, I guess it’s an implementation of the notion that no one should pee on our floors unless he’s paid!
