Last month on March 16th, a speeding camera flashed me late at night on my way home. Since I had recently signed up with the MOI’s traffic violations notification service, I marked the day down on my calendar so I could figure out how long it would take before I get an SMS. Finally, yesterday (April 1st) I got the message saying I owe a KD30 fine for speeding.

So basically it takes around 2 weeks from the day you get caught for the fine to register. That’s not that bad.

There’s currently a vintage car exhibition taking place at Al Hamra Tower with around 14 classic cars on display. The cars are from Omar Alghanim’s private collection of vintage first-grade restored vehicles from the 1940s to the 70s. The cars are all located in the basement and they will be on display until March the 16th.

Does anyone know what the hell this is? I’ve noticed around 4 so far located on the side of the road in various areas. It looks like some kind of antenna. I’ve noticed them near traffic light intersections so I’m just taking a wild guess here but maybe they’re a wireless remote traffic light management system?

Update: A reader has suggested it could be a radar unit that counts traffic. This makes sense. [Link]

Someone is selling their A-Team van replica on q8car. I posted about this van back in 2011 when I spotted it outside 360 Mall and according to a reader, the van is one of five that were made for the recent A-Team movie. [Link]

Gulf Run 8 was held late last month and the video of the trip just came out a few days back. The video was filmed and put together by my friend TJC [YouTube]

The Ministry of Interior launched a new service where you can sign up to receive notifications on your traffic violations by SMS. They will also send you a notification when your Civil ID or car registration are about to expire among other things.
