Islamist MPs disrupt Al-Subeeh’s swearing-in

Emily Sharpe, a reader of the blog sent in a link to the following video which was shot by her during the swearing in of new Kuwaiti Minister of Education, Nouriya Al-Subeeh during the Parliamentary session. The session was disrupted by Islamist MPs who objected to the fact that she refused to wear the hijab (headscarf), which she does not normally wear.

Don’t wish me a Merry Christmas

Saw a picture of poster on Hanan’s blog taken in Kaifan today. Basically the poster tells Muslims not to wish Christians a Merry Christmas. Now while checking Digg I also found an article by the Herald Tribune on this issue, about how some Muslim extremist are telling people not to wish Christians a Merry Christmas. I found this all very depressing. If Muslims are being advised not to wish us a Merry Christmas then I doubt they will be legalizing alcohol anytime soon…

Here is a link to Hana’s blog with the poster

Lebanese Flag Brought down by Hezbollah

Watch as a Hezbollah supporter throws down the Lebanese flag and replaces it with the Hezbollah flag at yesterdays demonstration in Beirut. Hezbollah wants our current anti-Syrian prime minister to step down because they think he is an American puppet. Hezbollah on the other hand isn’t controlled by Syria or Iran. I think this video symbolizes the future Hezbollah wants in Lebanon. [Video]

Pierre Gemayel Assasinated

Pierre Gemayel

A while ago I found out that Pierre Gemayel, an Anti-Syrian Lebanese Minister was assassinated in Lebanon. He was in his car when a man walked up with a gun equipped with a silencer and shot him at point blank range. He was the youngest minister and he was extremely loved by everyone. I hope a civil war doesn’t break out because of this.

I have some work I need to finish up but its hard to get back to work now after hearing this news, I think I am going to go home. [Link]

update: More info is coming in. Seems he was driving his car (it was a KIA) and two cars blocked his path, one from the front one from the back. One guy came out with a machine gun equipped with a silencer and fired at the car. They then took off.

Hell on Earth

Here is a video of a convoy in Iraq that made a wrong turn and went down a dead end road. On the way back out things turn to shit real fast. The army did an investigation into this but say they lost the report. Also Halliburton fired this guy because he got shot. [Video] #

Watching Beirut die

We went to Beirut to film a TV show about the city’s newly vibrant culinary and cultural scene. Then the bombs started falling, and we could only stand on the barricades of our hotel balcony and watch it all disappear — again.

A nice piece by Anthony Bourdain at Salon.com [Link]

6×10=60

Was just reading the news headlines on Naharnet and the first one I read was:

The Israeli army warns it will destroy 10 buildings in Beirut’s southern suburbs for each rocket that lands on Haifa

Then a couple of headlines later I read the following:

Six rockets hit Israeli town of Haifa, Al Jazeera TV

So 6×10=60, do we even have 60 buildings in Beirut?

What about us?

CNN Biased

The screenshot above is from the CNN main page. The area which I have highlighted in yellow is where they mention an Israeli woman and her grandson got killed and they have it as an important point. Yet they don’t mention the fact that over 60 people in Lebanon (including 2 Kuwaitis) have also been killed. I don’t mind CNN being biased but they shouldn’t make it that obvious…

For updates on whats going on in Lebanon check Naharnet.com

Current news flash:

Israel imposed Thursday a general air, sea and land blockade on Lebanon as part of its large-scale offensive to retrieve 2 soldiers snatched by Hizbullah.

The Jewish state widened its assault beyond Beirut and the South by targeting Hizbullah strongholds in the Bekaa where it launched air raids against a Shiite prayer house and a Manar TV transmission station.

Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz vows that Hizbullah will not be allowed to return to its positions on the border and demands that the Lebanese army deploy along the frontier.

Hezbollah the root of all evil

From a Lebanese to the world: Hezbollah are terrorists financed by Syria and Iran and the Lebanese government is to pussy to do anything about them. They were warned a million times to take care of the Hezbollah issue but no one in the government had the balls to call them out. Well now the Lebanese people are going to pay for the mistakes of the government. Its summer, its tourist season and because of Hezbollah, Israel has practically declared war on Lebanon. Today morning at 6AM Israel blew up two runways at the Beirut International Airport. This is not going to effect the Lebanese politicians sitting in their million dollar mansions, its going to effect the poor Lebanese people who make up the majority of Lebanon.

With these current attacks you would think the government would wake up and realize that its time to distance themselves from Hezbollah and let the whole world know that the Lebanese people are against Hezbollah and against their actions. But, of course that didn’t happen, the Lebanese government is calling all parties to be united against Israel. What a load of political crap, they are going to make things a lot worst for everyone. Fucking idiots.
