Sultan Center just started a new form of advertising using bluetooth. If your phone’s bluetooth is on while you are shopping in Sultan Center you might get a animated ad sent to you by them. Its an interesting concept but I think its annoying more then its a good thing. The only way not to receive these ads is to turn your bluetooth off which is a hassel if you are gonna do this everytime you go shopping there. If you want to check out an example of an ad they sent my phone click [here]

Universal Store
My office is across the street from Muthana Complex in Kuwait City and I Have been working there for over a year now and I used to visit Muthana daily. Now I pass by there once or twice a week. You would think that after visiting Muthana a couple of hundreds times already that I would know it inside out, well thats what I figured until yesterday I found a store that I didn’t know existed.. the Universal Store.
My usual entrance into Muthana was closed so I had to walk around the building from the outside trying to find an open entrance. While walking around I found a store called Universal Store. From the outside I saw that the store sold movie related items but once I got closer I noticed they sold movie collectibles and props. So I go in and ask the saleslady how long the store has been open and she tells me 1 year! How the hell did I miss this shop? Anyway the shop is small but packed with goodies. You can check out most of their products by checking out their website. I don’t know and don’t think they are an official Universal Store but you never know. [Link]
The iPod Hi-Fi is available at Virgin and they are selling it for KD150. It’s a lot smaller then I imagined it to be, it looks a lot bigger in the pictures.
Simply Stinni found another link for an online maid shopping site. This place has an even larger collection of maids and allows you to search by age, sex, nationality, religion etc.. kinda like those match making sites… [Link]
Thanks to Simply Stinni for finding this, it has to be the strangest local website so far (stranger then q8beasts.com even!). Order your maid house keeper online now! [Link]
Note: Check out the catalogue
Update: Site seems to be down at the moment..
Update: Seems if you view the site using Internet Explorer you can’t see the links on the left side. Interesting.. a site optimized just for Firefox.. Here are direct links to the catalogue:

My Qualitynet DSL account expires next month and so I was just checking their website to see if they have any new offers because last year when I signed up they had a double your bandwidth offer. So I am checking to see how much 512KB will cost me this time around and to my surprise its KD100 cheaper. Last year if you signed up for 1 year of 256KB they would double the bandwidth to 512KB. I paid KD380 then. This time around I don’t see a double your bandwidth offer but a 512KB connection now costs KD280. The sad thing is 1MB is still KD560 a year which is double the price, maybe my sister who lives next door and steals uses my internet will pitch in for a 1MB (hint hint Rampurple). [Link]
There is a site I use every now and then to buy CDs from. I usually use it when I want to buy every CD of a certain band for example I got all the Alice in Chains CDs plus all Rage Against the Machine CDs from this site. The site I am talking about is BMGmusic.com. I use them because the CDs are really cheap, you buy 12 CDs for the price of 1. Thats it, no small print filled with traps and no forcing you to buy 6 more CDs in the next 2 years like Columbia House.
I have used them maybe 6 times so far and I usually buy classics like Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Its a practical way of expanding your CD collection… that is if you still collect CDs. 12 CDs for the price of 1, its hard to beat. [Link]
Note: You need an Aramex Shop & Ship mailbox if you are living in Kuwait.
Refund Please
I posted before about the website RefundPlease.com which keeps track of your amazon.com purchases and alerts you incase a product becomes cheaper so you can get a refund. Well I just wanted to say that I have used it for a couple of my purchases and the service works as advertised. I usually also get my refunds within an hour from Amazon, very quick. [Link]
They banned LEGO!!
Remember how last week I was hoping they weren’t going to ban LEGO from the market because its a Danish product? Well yesterday I past by Sultan Center and went upstairs to the LEGO section and guess what? All the shelves where the LEGO used to be are empty now! They banned LEGO!! The dairy section downstairs also had no more Danish products that includes Lurpak, Puck and Three Cows. Whats next? Will they start banning products from countries who supported the Danish like the French and Germans? Would that mean no more BMWs and Mercedes? That would be really silly.
I found a website yesterday that sells pirated DVD’s and CD’s online here in Kuwait.. and they deliver! The website sells DVD’s for KD1.5 ($5) each and they seem to have a decent collection. I don’t know how much the CD’s go for but I am guessing either the same or less. Payment is made on delivery and the delivery is free of charge. [Link]
Update: There is another site that will also deliver DVD’s to your home, but they require you to buy atleast 3 DVD’s at KD2 ($6) each. You also place the order by phone and they seem to have a large collection. [Link]

Easy Amazon Refund
If you have done a lot of shopping on Amazon.com you might have noticed that the prices of products on Amazon go up and down like the stock market. You might find and buy something today for $100 but check again the next day and the same product might be $90 or $110.
It really isn’t fair if you buy something today for a price and find it cheaper the next day and thats why Amazon has a policy where if you buy something for lets say $100 and within 30 days of your purchase the price goes down to say $90, Amazon would credit you back the difference of $10.
Keeping track of the products you buy and their prices can be a pain and this is why the site RefundPlease.com is very handy. This website keeps track of your purchases and the price you paid and within 30 days if the price of the product goes down they will email you with the correct url which you could use to request credit from Amazon. I have already added some stuff I purchased this christmas and hopefully I might get some cash back. [Link]
I past by Virgin tonight. Two different Virgins actually, the main large branch and another smaller one. Virgin here is way different then in Kuwait. They actually have cool stuff here, better music, way better books and their DVD section is fucking huge. Even the smaller branch I went to tonight had a foreign movie section divided by countries! Virgin Kuwait is way larger then Virgin Lebanon but they size doesn’t matter in this case.
