Construction in the Middle of the Night

Has anyone had to deal with a construction site that started work in the middle of the night? I kinda remember reading in a newspaper once that they are only allowed to work during certain hours like 6AM to 10PM or something like that, anyone know the exact timings? Also who do you complain to? I woke up at around 4AM because the construction site across the street was working and it was super annoying. Luckily I had some 3M earplugs I ended up using but I doubt my neighbors were as lucky.

Yup he is right, wait until the carpenters start working on the frames and all the banging and shouting starts.
you will enjoy it as im doing for the past few months.

I have had this going on for over a year now – two houses have been demolished and rebuilt and now they’re renovating a third. Completely fed up. I’ve been out and shouted at the workers and it’s stopped for a bit but starts up again. I kind of get it in the summer when it’s hot but at this time of the year it’s completely unnecessary and just plain inconsiderate.

It’s illegal, I work in construction myself and have gotten in trouble for starting work in some Kuwaiti residential area’s (Dasma, Salwa, etc) at even 7am let alone in the middle of the night.

There are laws that you can’t work in ANY residential area’s during certain hr’s (midnight or night time etc).

I don’t know whom you complain too or call as I’ve always been on the receiving end but each time it was just the local police that showed up and ripped me a new one.

If the police showed up and ripped Sunny a new one then that who you should call.

Call 112 and lodge a complaint of disturbing the peace. What’s the worse that’s gonna happen??

Maximum is that they tell you you are calling the wrong people or they direct you to the right people and give you the added cherry of sending a patrol unit out there to rip a new one for the guy who is in charge of the offending work site

Waking up at 4.00 AM is a trait of the successful people, apparently. You need to be a little more grateful to the kind construction company that is going above and beyond to help write your success story 😛

Whaaat? No! I have nothing to do with this AMAZING construction company with the STATE-OF-THE-ART machinery and equipment, that has the most GENEROUS, SELFLESS and HARDWORKING employees who enjoy MEDICAL and DENTAL benefits, and are currently offering 30% DISCOUNT. Hurry up! Offer valid till 31st Dec only!

Nope. Nothing to do with them. No connection. None.
>:)

There is a dilemma. Construction vehicles can’t use the roads during rush hour to reduce traffic. So they arrive 4 am.

I had a similar problem a year back. The building opposite mine was getting demolished.Called the police ,they came and stopped the construction. But construction started up again after a few days.Inorder to be effective night ban you would need atleast 2-3 people call for the same reason .This is what the police said later.

i have the same problem in salmiya block 3street 6 and they are building a mosque so no one can say anything and this is so annoying …

Call police about the noise and ask your neighbors to do the same. Don’t hesitate to call the police again if the construction noise comes back after your first complaint. You have to be persistent with things like this so police know your gonna keep bothering them until problem is solved.

Had a similar problem but with baqalas parked outside a playground outside my house. They had their generators on everyday from afternoon until late at night. I called the police about the noise, who asked them to leave but they came back a couple days later. I called them a second time, same thing happened, they left but returned the next day. After the third complaint with the police, now they’re gone for good because they know if they ever come back they’ll have the police right up their asses.

My piece of advise, use a white noise block. This has saved me from the uncivilized parents and their two brats who have been running across their entire house and drop chairs and furniture at 1.30 – 2.00 am for the last twelve years. There was no point in being angry, complaints of any sort. So the white noise block served. But beware you will not hear anything else other than the smooth humming sound of your noise block

Talk to the main contractor and they will stop, I am sure they will be understanding.

Aside from that you’ll have to go to the baladiya near Salmiya Coop.

911 is also for emergencies.. and they get called all the time by people complaining of their neighbors having loud ass parties , yelling through the night , causing disturbances and being a nuisance .

Construction through the night and disturbing decent folk trying to sleep would fall under at least 3 of the of the above.

If 112 is to Kuwait what 911 is in the States then I would call them and call them often 🙂
