A Starbucks opening up in a mall wouldn’t really be news except for the fact when 360 Mall first opened, one of the differentiating factors from other malls was they wouldn’t carry any of the Alshaya brands. They wanted to be different from other malls and so didn’t want the same shops you’d find everywhere else also open there. That’s not an easy decision to stick by especially when Alshaya owns so many brands. I think the first Alshaya brand that opened there was Asha’s, but now Starbucks is planning to open up by the end of the year.

Mark, the reason 360 did not have any Alshaya brands was because the real estate group that owns 360 mall, the Tamdeen group and Alshaya’s Real estate division mabanee, are direct competitors. So they won’t promote their own competition. But I guess corona is making even the fiercest rivals work together.
Yup, I believe al shaya started it by refusing to give them specific shops they required and limited their brands. It has nothing to with wanting to be different it is just smiting each other.
They have discussed multiple times before. Rent negotiations always failed through.
Shaya demands rent which is considerably lower than market (partly cause they can), but they are known to demand unreasonably low rent as well.
360 on the other hand is known to charge ridiculously high rent as well and have turnover rent.. and did not agree to such low rent proposed by Shaya..
360 officially has never said they don’t want Shaya outlets there. However, they indirectly marketed it that way.
Neither, Tamdeen or Alshaya is entirely against the other. They just couldn’t come to an agreement in terms of rent; That’s all.
So that explains why they don’t have Boots pharmacy.
I only hope this is going to be a Starbucks Reserve and not just your ordinary neighborhood Bucks.
Yeah my thoughts exactly. It would be such a waste of opportunity and valuable location not to serve their Reserve coffee there.
There’s also a Claire’s on the ground floor. (Correct me if it’s no longer there, it’s been a while since I’ve been to 360)
Claire’s is in the basement, in front of Carrefour, and it’s still there.
Maybe this has nothing to do with the rent?
I joke about the huge number of Starbucks outlets per sqm in the Avenues, so much so you can use them as markers to identify the toilets in each phase. So in this case 360 must have wanted to direct toilet traffic in a direction and agreed to this joint 😂
I’d much rather they opened a Tim Hortons instead. Would give the space more character.
Didn’t give much character to avenues when they were open there
Everyone succumbs to Al Shaya.
