Took my Tamiya FJ out rock crawling with some friends today in Bnaider. The weather was good and the location was perfect for our cars. I shot some video which I am going to edit and upload later but here are a few pictures for now.
Update: Here is the video.
The YouTube version is [Here]

Great shots, if i didnt know it was a RC i would have thought it is the real deal but up in Mi6la3 or something…
Fun much?
Looks almost like a real jeep.. cool 🙂
hehe, here is a picture of it next to my real jeep

That’s a toy right? probably the most expensive, but still .. a toy!!
I don’t understand men!
man I love the articulation of those axles! hows the video editing coming along ?
I am trying to do something proper and its time consuming. Usually I just slap clips after each other but I am trying to step up my game a bit this time 🙂
okay! I dont mind waiting! good luck 🙂
best of luck with video mark .. i am sure its gonna be worth the wait …
I want to go to Bnaider! I haven’t been there in ages!
Great shots ..! It looks almost like a real car 🙂
Which is better, electric or gas powered ?
You need to take shots with that technique used for model cars to make them seem like they have the real proportion and size.
thats not a “toyota” fj right?
it is
it doesnt look like one … its like a clone of your jeep
ninesixfive : it’s a Toyota Landcruiser FJ..

You’re probably thinking about the Toyota FJ cruiser. different car 🙂 hope this clears things.
ninesixfive Please don’t say that … ur hurting my feelings
Mark Neat Stuff Man Hope you had fun
ROFL 0:43 Didn’t expect that lol!
whoa..looks cool……what if it was the real thing?
o and which song is it in the video ? i like the angles at which you shot the video, which camera did you use?
Video is just PRO!
FJ looks awesome. We all know, you had major problems with that project, but for sure the work is done and the result is absolutely fabulous.
Already next project on the table?

Pyyth4: Rage Against the Machine – Sleep Now In The Fire
Pyyth4: I used my D90 to shoot the video in full HD
Does the car have rear wheel turning as well? Looks like it from the video.
Yeah its got 4 wheel steering. It was a last minute thing I added. It was first just regular front wheel steering but because I locked the differentials the turning radius became horrible so I installed rear steering as well to bring the turning radius back down.
lol I can’t stop watching the HD one…
thats good to know. It was my first experience shooting and editing a video like this. Should be better next time and maybe include more cars. I have total respect for directors and editors, their job is very challenging.
the best part is the feel that it’s quite big
and the song
if you added some slow-mo’s of the wheels spinning, or the FJ closing in towards the camera, then it would have been even greater….sort of matches the song too.
Whoa! awesome stuff ! nice editing and great soundtrack!
I’m hungry for more Mr. Director 🙂
Nice video & music 🙂
Mark,
Can you please tell me how to find that rocky place in Bneidar? I want to try it out coz looks cool.
it was worth the wait mark…
neat video…
Nice track from Rage, goes great with the video.
I love the video, it looks like a real car!!
o , thanks khaled
Mark!!
Good to know that the KID in you is still having a lot of enthusiasm!!!

imovie’09

Nikon D90 for the pictures and video
Simply Beautiful
Great pics… honestly thought I was looking at a real Jeep Willy on 6 inch lifts doing its thing. But Honestly Mark great pics and nice video. I see some one adding artistic director to his resume soon. 🙂
Great shots and video, Mark… Loved the filming 🙂
looks like real, how much is a toy like this?
Jens
Watching this is so boring, but I am positive that controlling it is way more fun.
it’s not a toy… it’s a scale model
BTW, what tires are you using? fill the wheels up with BB pellets? They really help on slippery surfaces so it doesn’t slide off.
I already have weights wrapped around the wheel from the inside, i think around 500 grams per wheel up front and a little less in the back.
Hi Mark,
I would like to join you with my Traxxas Summit the next time you go out with your crawler. I have been enjoying RC Crawling all alone on the beaches and other places but have always wished to find a mate and go on an RC journey.. Please let me know..
