Starlink internet is now available in Kuwait

I just found out through a reader that Starlink is now officially available in Kuwait.

There are two types of devices you can purchase to get started, the Standard or the Mini. The Standard device costs KD122 and is meant to be permanently fixed. The Mini, on the other hand, is a smaller portable device that you can mount at your home but also take with you anywhere you go. The Mini device costs KD92.

Both devices offer similar download speeds between 135-305 Mbps and an upload speed between 20-40 Mbps. The monthly price is also similar at KD31 for unlimited data.

According to the website the kit ships in 1-2 weeks and you don’t have to sign up to a contract. So if you want to try it out for just one month you can. If you already have a device and an account you need to cancel your subscription and transfer the device to a new Kuwait-based account (you can’t just update the address).

From my personal experience I was able to hit 291 Mbps download speed and 57 Mbps upload speed with 19ms ping using the Starlink Mini and my device has obstructions so with the Standard device and no obstructions I can imagine it would be a bit faster and have an even lower ping rate.

Starlink isn’t faster than 5G and is more expensive, but the low ping rate is great for online gaming.

If you want to try out Starlink, head to starlink.com and put Kuwait as your location. This is a referral link that will give you and me 1 month free internet after activation.

I think i will get one and rig it up on my car. so whenever i travel, i have a good roaming internet from anywhere

Hey, how are yeah?

Just wondering but the low ping is it only for the middle east countries or also US and EU?

Thank you.

I ordered a package from Italy on Sunday, which was sent via DHL. It left the warehouse on Monday evening, and was delivered by Saturday.

Where exactly did you ping in 19ms? The picture kind of shows that is the ping to the satellite in space. Can you try to ping Cloudflare at 1.1.1.1?

It has to be placed outdoors and according to their instructions: The standard Starlink dish is rated to operate in temperatures from -30°C to +50°C (-22°F to +122°F).

Will it handle the peak of Kuwait’s heat?

It will for some times since it can only hold till 50, last summer under the sun it was recorded around 65-67.

CIA internet just so happens to now be available in the war zone where US military bases and radars have been destroyed in

Mark I love the idea, but idk if I trust musk with my internet. The man is deranged; I need a company with a CEO who lacks temper tantrums. I’ll wait for amazon Leo; the company is a long way away, but at least Bezos isn’t as vile.

What’s your take?

So you’re picking someone who’s known to treat employees like slaves and over works them and is a significant contributor of pollution over someone who you dislike because of their social media posts…

You mean musk who used his wealth to:

* actively and openly, promote, support and support right wing parties in multiple countries. These countries include Germany, the UK, the Netherlands. When these right wing parties failed he encouraged people to protest and called the loss a “fraud”.

*ran a “D.O.G.E” government agency which single handily fired 9% of of the federal government illegally. Fired the people who regulate his businesses, and openly harassed them on X.

* someone who uses significant market manipulation to increase the prices of his companies. His is illegally selling X and X Ai to spaceX because he realises they were a terrible decision, he essence sold his failed companies to a company he runs. Now he is going to sell SpaceX in the most expensive public listing in history, that evaluation is prompted by bullshit ideas of “space data-centres” which experts around the world have repeatedly warned is a terrible idea, which will not work.

*someone who demanded significant compensation for tanking Tesla.

*someone who has a significant drug problem and is paying random women to have his babies.

* someone who abuses his workers openly. Firing them on a whim and is struggling to find people willing to work for him. The executives from XAI have fled to other companies,

*someone who begged Jeffrey Epstein to go to a party, and was denied the second time. How f***ed do you have to be for even Jeffrey to hate you after one r*** party? Let’s not forget musk actively demanded people with connections to Jeffrey get prosecuted then went nuclear when his emails were published.

*Someone who sued OpenAi, for going public… just like he recommended. Why? Because he wants to go public first.

* Sued the world federation of advertisers and companies for leaving X. When that didn’t work he used X to demand people boycott those brands.

* used his platform for significant right-wing algorithmic public manipulation.

Should I keep going? How deep in the musk juice are you?

Btw musk also treats his workers like slaves. The lack of worker safety lead to a Tesla worker’s death in China in 2023 due to not following government minimum regulations. His batteries are bought from suppliers in xinjiang who are known to use slave labour. He threatened to fire people who didn’t work during a covid-19 lockdown. During the lockdown in he demanded 12 hour factory work days, 6 days a week. Workers were forced to sleep on the factory floors without being allowed to leave.

Soooo…

Yeah I agree, the tech is cool but I’m gonna pass on starlink because of Musk. I don’t want all my Internet traffic to be routed through a system owned by him.
