Last week I posted about a new restaurant that opened called Bao. Well the same owners opened up another restaurant right next door called Haute specializing in gourmet hot dogs. I passed by a couple of days ago to try it out and unlike my visit to Bao, this time I left disappointed.
The interior of Haute is pretty trendy looking with graffiti on the walls and lots of bright red everywhere. The place was empty when I passed by but it wasn’t lunch nor dinner time but somewhere in between. Their menu had 7 different hot dogs to choose from, they all used the same beef hot dog but each had different toppings. I like my hot dogs very simple so ordered the classic which came with just ketchup and mustard (KD2.000).
When I first saw pictures of the hot dogs on their instagram page, I thought I would have an issue with the bun they were using. It didn’t look soft in the photos but in reality they were and they also turned out to be the best thing about the hot dog. The hot dog itself on the other hand was disappointing. According to their instagram, their hot dogs are smoked and made in house using the finest beef. But I didn’t like the flavor of it and thought it tasted very average. So for my hot dog fix I’ll continue to stick to Shake Shack for the time being.

their chili dog used to be my favorite but haven’t had it in like 5 years so not really sure if its still any good

The Hardee’s dogs were great back in the day, 10-15+ years ago. They changed something about the chili or the dogs themselves. Probably related to Egyptification of Americana. Its also why sbarros sucks now. Everything is about cost cutting.
As for your absolute nonsense about smashburger having good hotdogs, let’s ge one thing straight, if you’re not talking about Chicago hotdogs then you’re wasting time and deceiving everyone around you into think you know anything about anything. Jon Snow would look down on how much you know. Smashburger makes rubbish messy hotdogs that couldn’t hold a candle to the Shak-cago dogs at shake shack. They’re a distant 5th or 6th place. I don’t even know who is in between but that doesn’t even matter. Smash dogs are as bad as Johnny Rockets hotdogs. And those are famously rubbish. Probably made from your opinions and mark’s food expertise.

I used to have the chili cheese dogs from fuddruckers.. But they are out of it for awhile now, havent received their shipment from the USA.

Try the Haute Ripper Hot Dog at Open Flame Kitchen in 360 Mall. It’s deep fried in duck fat and delicious. But they’re always out of it so haven’t had it since last year.

Agreed…love the place, love the concept…but the hot dog itself isn’t that great….best hot dogs in my opinion are 1) fat burger 2) shake shack 3) smash burger

they use freshly baked potato bun and Angus beef hotdog, its delicious. I tried them at different events and at Qout market. But i know that they deliver, their phone number must be on their instagram @thebarkskw
Yes I did, I couldn’t understand how they could get a simple thing as a hot dog so wrong. By far the worst hot dog bun in the world. The bun to hot dog ratio was so unbalanced I don’t know how they didn’t notice it. I was just eating bread. I told the owner exactly how I felt when I tried them at qout.

Mark, you got to try Hot Dog Stop. I’m not sure where they’re located but I order them from Talabat when I’m in Kuwait. Best hot dogs. My parents were flying out of Kuwait so I asked them to get a couple (yes, they’re actually that good). Their bacon and cheese hot dog is the best. You must give it a try, you’ll thank me. I assure you.
