Pre-Book Your Avenues Parking Spot

One of my favorite local apps is the PASS App. Pre-Corona the cashless parking app was extremely practical and I used it all the time but now during the pandemic, the app makes even more sense. The way the app works is you top it off with credit, and then add your cars to it. Once you get to a parking lot that supports PASS like the 360 Mall parking lot, the parking gate will recognize your car and automatically open to let you in. On the way out you don’t have to interact with the cashier either, once you approach the exit gate it just opens up and the PASS app charges you. All the payments are handled digitally through the app which during this pandemic makes the app a must-have.

But, if that wasn’t enough they’ve recently added another new and cool feature, pre-booking your parking spot. This Friday when I passed by the Avenues I wasn’t sure if it would be busy or not so I pre-booked a parking spot with the app. When I got to Avenues I headed to the Phase 4 PASS Prebook lot and the gate automatically opened to let me in where I found plenty of parking (it was actually empty except for one other car).

The Prebooking parking fees at Avenues is 500fils per hour from the moment you book your spot (not from the moment you enter the parking) and you’re charged per hour till you leave or cancel your booking. This makes sense since they don’t want people to book spots but then not show up. Although Avenues parking is free, booking a parking spot makes the Avenues experience a lot less stressful when you know you’re guaranteed to have a parking spot waiting for you.

I don’t recommend a lot of local apps on this blog nor do I like installing a lot of apps, but, I highly recommend this one. You can download it by clicking here.

that really do not make any sense, pay 500 fils an hour even before you reach there, for something that is free of charge (parking) to start with.
the price is exaggerated.

PARKING THERE IS FREE FOR GOD SAKE.

I mean, it’s fair if you show up and can’t find a spot, then you book a parking spot once you realize you can’t get a free one. You head immediately and BAAM! Every fils is worth it. I guess it’s a good backup option to have.

Your argument doesn’t make sense, should valet parking be free because parking in avenues is free? This is a value-added service, you can either choose to go to the mall and drive around looking for a spot and not pay anything, or you choose to pay 500fils an hour for the privilege of having a space waiting for you.

don’t bother arguing with people like this, they just want everything handed out to them, everything for free, and always ready to bust a complaint. It’s a fantastic app! People have a hard time giving our praise.

the charge is by the hour, the parking is for free. put a fixed fee for the service 500 fils or 1 kd for booking. but not by the hour. you know how everything here in Kuwait has to be exaggerated to satisfy the ego.

So youre saying pay 1kd for example and book the spot all day until I feel like visiting? That wouldn’t make sense logistically or financially. People were just book in the morning and then visit at night so the spot stays empty all day. That’s operating at a loss and you’d never achieve your maximum capacity. Their hourly rate idea makes much more sense.

no, you can always do it in away that you book an hour in advance or 2 max. after that it get canceled without refund if you did not use it. but a 500 fils an hour for a parking that is free to start with.
if it was a paid parking then it will be acceptable that you put additional fee’s, but the parking is free your providing a service (reserving a spot) and you can charge for it 1 Kd for reserving that spot.
don’t forget you want people to come and spend as much time as possible in the mall and leave after 2 or 3 hours

I don’t understand why you’re fixating on the free part.

Free parking is for the benefit of people who don’t want to pay for parking, it doesn’t benefit the people who are willing to pay a premium to have a parking spot reserved for them.

You’re trying to bring down the cost of this “premium” parking to fit closer to the costs of free parking, but that’s not how this business model works.

If you go to the parking all the way in the back of the Avenues you will find my secret basement parking, there’s hardly anyone there because they always pass up the entrance if they aren’t looking for it.

Thanks for the info, you will probably find my car in your spot next time you go…just kidding. If I go early I like to park underground by Ikea, sometimes Prestige side. If I go late I just park across the street and walk in.

This is awesome! I did not know it existed! I would gladly book a spot and pay for it to be waiting for me to arrive from home. Usually I just park outside the mall area and walk in. I hate circling for parking. I don’t even try anymore but this would have been great for the airport long term parking. Has anyone ever driven themselves to the airport to not have any long term parking? I literally have parked at LuLus in Dajeej in an emergency, left the car there and taken a taxi to airport. Off subject, it’s been a while but I wonder if that Rolls Royce is still in airport long term parking. I swear I noticed it was there for like five years.

Genius idea for recurring revenue. Kuwait is a country with disposable income so creating this option makes alot of sense. People who dont get it are stuck in that bubble & will never understand business.

Although I should really be telling you to go fuck yourself, I’ve recently told myself to be more patient and nicer to stupid people, so, I’ll instead explain how this blog works.

When a post is paid for the post is highlighted as being paid for. Here are some examples of promoted posts: https://248am.com/category/promoted

As you can clearly see this post hasn’t been marked as a promoted post which means it was not paid for.

Thank you, please come again.

you will always find a parking in avenues, even at friday. I have a parking spot I always go there next to the door in prestige and its always empty near the door. sometimes i see 3-5 cars parked there but i never had to park far away from the door.

Well Mark

There should be No Free parking in the avenues ..
Its not a public park .. There many people who come with a bottle of water with them .They walk and windoiw shop for hours without spending a dime or BP .. on contrary they are generating heat in the Mall and run down the Malls free facilities … In Europe an UK
You pay 10 euros or pounds per hour , half a kd is cheap to pay .

I have to disagree. Free parking will attract a higher footfall, so even if those people come with a bottle of water with them just to walk around, that’s still foot traffic. They might not have planned to shop, but they might see something they like and get it, they might find out about a sale that’s going on or spot a brand they didn’t know existed. Every person visiting is a potential customer and malls like Avenues operate on high footfall.

Not sure where in Europe specifically you’ve been where parking might be paid, but I’m assuming they have good public transportation which you can take an avoid the parking fee. In LA I never saw a mall with paid parking and that’s most likely because public transportation is pretty crap over there. Kuwait the public transportation system is worse.

Finally by having a parking fee a lot of low-income people will avoid coming to the mall so places like Carrefour and IKEA wouldn’t suffer a loss of customers. IKEA probably wouldn’t have opened there in the first place if they didn’t have free parking.
