This is an event I have been eagerly awaiting ever since I heard about it back in 2008. I stated back then that this would be perfect in Kuwait and now Red Bull have finally brought it here.

The event will take place on Friday, May 14th 2010 at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Drifting circuit in Farwaniya area located at the sixth ring road behind the Car Driving School. This is a local qualification and the winner will have the chance to compete in the final round taking place in Lebanon on Friday, July 16th 2010.

The very stylish Octium Jewelry is holding a special exhibit at their 360 mall boutique from Sunday May 2nd to the 5th. They’ve invited some world renowned designers who will be showcasing some of their latest work. The designers who will be visiting are:

Selim Mouzannar
Bochic
Crivell
Verdi Gioielli

The event will be from 10AM to 10PM except for today (Sunday) it will be from 6PM to 10PM. What I like about this event is the fact that people will be able to interact with the talented designers.

The Cool Hunter are coming to Kuwait for an event. I just got an invite and I don’t know how much I can share since its a private event so will just share the bare minimum. The event will be held next week and it’s called A Kuwaiti World. The invite contains a username and password (which I won’t share) that allows you to log into www.akuwaitiworld.com and find out more info on the event. The Cool Hunter is the world’s most-read culture and design site. I previously mentioned them in a post when they featured the Octium Jewelry store at 360 Mall on their website. Will post pictures and details after the event.

The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait is sponsoring a blues concert that will be held at the Kuwait University on the 14th of April at 7:30PM. The U.S. Embassy is bringing over the Little Joe McLerran Quartet as part of their Gulf Tour. The event is open to the public and is free of charge. Tickets and seat reservations are not necessary. Turns out you can watch the Allah Made Me Funny show for free tonight and skip on paying to watch it at GUST. The Ministry of Awqaf & Islamic Affairs with The Grand Mosque Western Perception Of Islam Center are sponsoring the show tonight. The show will take place around 7:30PM (after the Isha prayers) and the location is the Grand Tent close to the Grand Mosque. There are an estimated seats 1000 and enough parking for 550 people. The event is for free and there’s no reservation!

As you know by now the Animal Friends shelter was engulfed by fire and so they now need help rebuilding it again. Animal Friends are going to hold a meeting on Friday to discuss the next steps in this rebuilding process. This is the email I received from them on this subject:

The outpouring of support and generosity since the fire has been overwhelming. Whether it is volunteering, donating, fundraising or fostering, your offers of help are hugely appreciated and will go a long way to help us get the AFL shelter back up and running as soon as possible. We are holding a meeting to give everyone the latest information, to discuss what the next steps are and how we can work together to help the animals.

Axis of Evil are going to be in Kuwait for the “So you think you can laugh” comedy show that will be taking place at AUK on March 29 @ 7:00 PM.

The Kuwait International Rally will start on March 4th at 3PM under the Kuwait Towers. It will be a ceremonial start for the event with the first race day held on March 5th and the last March 6th. The fine arts and crafts association is holding its first exhibition for Embroidery art, Drawing, Knitting, Painting eggs this week to spread awareness of the activities of the society. LoYAC is having its Annual Music Night on Tuesday, February 23rd 2010 at 6:00pm. The Music Night will be held in the AbdulAziz Hussein Theatre in Mishref and all the proceeds will be going to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. This is considered to be the first step that the Help Haiti Committee in LoYAC (headed by Al Zain Al Humaidhi) will be taking in terms of awareness and collecting donations for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Many musicians from LoYAC will be performing, our main area of focus would have to traditional Arabic music and folklore. We are anticipating having people sing songs for Fairuz, Rashed Il Majed, Shereen, Abdel Halim and many more. We will also have instrumental pieces that will be played. Our pianist Faisal will be performing as well. Faisal has been sent on several scholarships through LoYAC internationally.

The tickets cost 5 KD, and 20 KD for corporate donations, the tickets are available at LoYAC in Bayt Lothan.

Registration is now open for entry into the fifth annual dog show. The show will take place in the beautiful gardens of the British Embassy on Friday March 5th from 11AM to 4PM. I’ve been to their first and second annual dog show and it was a lot of fun. I only missed out on the other two because I was out of the country. It’s very well organized and it’s really great having an event like this in Kuwait. I always sign up my dog to the different categories and even though he always ends failing miserably we still have a really good time.
