Local tshirt brand Capital District have a new line of tshirts which were done in collaboration with Slider Station. From the 3 different colored shirts I ordered the burger one pictured above since I thought it was black but disappointingly turned out to be brown. You can check out the tshirts on the Capital District website, the Slider Station ones start with “SS”. [Link]

Earlier today I was told that Habchi and Chalhoub are currently in negotiations with Abercrombie & Fitch to bring them to the region. The Chalhoub Group already have a bunch of popular brands in their roster including Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lacoste, Celine and Marc Jacobs so it would be realistic for them to get the brand although I always imagined Alshaya bringing them. I’m actually interested to see how the brand will adapt to the region but my guess is there won’t be much of an issue. For now I’ll leave you with the video above of the A&F guys lipdubbing “Call Me Maybe” while I go do a thousand sit-ups and starve myself. [YouTube]
Freeze Ice Vest
It’s a vest you fill with ice cubes so you could stay cool in the summer. Someone needs to buy a whole bunch and sell these here in Kuwait. Price? KD20 on [Amazon]
Two days back I found out Ralph Lauren had a summer sale (50% off) taking place so I passed by today and picked up a few shirts. To my surprise it turns out I now wear size “small”. Thank you Fahad for that. If you’re interested, sale is on till July 10th. The classic polo shirts are not included in the sale.
Update: Forgot to add they’re also opening up a huge flagship store in Avenues Phase III.
Destination XL
I passed by Symphony Mall to check out the new Bang & Olufsen store but found it closed so I decided to wonder around the mall to check out what other stores are open. The whole mall is pretty much vacant except for a new store in the basement called Destination XL. It’s a big and tall men’s store that opened up just two weeks back.
The place from the inside looks pretty nice with the layout looking very similar to a men’s section in a large department store like Macy’s. I wasn’t allowed to take pictures of the inside but I spotted brands like Lacoste, Polo Ralph Lauren, Joseph Abboud and Calven Klein among others.
It’s too bad the store is just for the big and tall since I liked the fact they carried a bunch of brands all in one place. Symphony Mall is located in Salmiya right next to Missoni Hotel opposite American University of Kuwait. The entrance is from the back side and the mall looks like it’s still under construction but DXL are open in the basement.
Gucci currently have a silent sale taking place on some of their items. 50% off shoes and clothing while the discounted bags are 30% off.
Update: YSL next door at 360 also have the exact same sale taking place.
PinkGirlQ8 spotted a Shake Shack coming soon hoarding outside Fanar Mall in Salmiya. I thought the location was a bit odd but I guess they want to drive traffic away from the Johnny Rockets branch that’s just a few shops away.
I also found out the Harvey Nichols launch date at Avenues Phase III is now confirmed to be around end of September early October. This will be their first store in Kuwait.
miu miu coming to 360
According to Q80 High Street there is now a miu miu “coming soon” hoarding at 360 Mall (she doesn’t mention where in the mall exactly).
Miu Miu is a high fashion brand of women’s clothing and accessories from the Prada fashion house. [Source]
I guess it’s only a matter of time before Prada opens up as well. [Link]
Last September I got a tip saying that Prada was coming to Kuwait and opening up at 360 Mall but according to a recent interview with the CEO he stated the following:
“We are expanding in Morocco, Istanbul, Beirut, Dubai and Qatar” [Source]
What about Kuwait? I guess it could be the CEO just forgot to mention Kuwait…
The Q80 High Street blog has pictures of all the stores and restaurants that are currently open at Al Hamra Tower and pictures of ones that are opening soon. I personally need to pass by and check out the Adidas Originals store since it’s the first one in Kuwait. You can check out her post [Here]
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you might have seen the tshirt pictured above. I wasn’t planning to post about it just yet since the tshirt isn’t available yet but I also didn’t expect to get a lot of emails asking about it.
Those of you who’ve been reading blogs for quite some time might remember a blogger called Tatabotata. Well he shutdown his blog ages ago but it’s going to be relaunched again soon as a tshirt store. He used to have a lot of cool and controversial tshirt designs back then (snapshot here) and when he showed me the design above last year I told him I wanted first dibs which is how I became his first customer (and #1 fan).
If you also want this tshirt or his others you will have to wait until his website goes live which is very soon. Right now you can sign up to be notified when his tshirts go live so if you’re interested you can head over to his website [Tatabotata.com]
I think it’s their smallest store in Kuwait. Just remembered they have the much smaller Marina Mall branch.
I accidentally switched over to 99.7 the other day and heard an advert about The Athlete Foot selling ghutras made by Puma. I think they said that they were created either just for Kuwait or for the region not really sure but I decided to pass by and check them out. Turns out they’re not actually selling ghutras but clothing with the ghutra pattern. Would have been cooler if Puma actually made ghutras.
The Deal just got a collection of Tumi bags if anyone is interested. Once items move up to The Deal they’re usually given a further discount so you might be able to find a good deal. They’re located on M1 in Salhiya.
