For the month of Ramadan, Solo Pizza Napulitana will be supporting Bayt Abdullah’s Childrens’ Hospice as part of their social responsibility. For every pizza and Nutella Dario that is ordered, half a Kuwaiti Dinar will be donated towards Bayt Abduallah. If having the best pizza in Kuwait wasn’t a good enough reason to go there, now you have a bigger incentive. Their opening hours for Ramadan will be from Saturday to Thursday, 10pm to 1am (Closed on Fridays). Here is their website with directions to the place. [Link]

Solo Pizza Ramadan Project
I know many of you feel we already have too many burger places in Kuwait but I have to obviously disagree with that. I think we still have room for a couple of more burger joints and the couple being Five Guys and In-N-Out. From what I was told by one of my readers, it looks like Five Guys is coming to Kuwait.
According to the reader him and his partner were trying to strike a deal with Five Guys and after getting all the paperwork, doing a feasibility study and agreeing on all the terms, they contacted Five Guys again only to be told that they had given the franchise rights to someone else in Kuwait. The rumor is Al Homaizi got the franchise rights and I’ve already sent an email to my contact there hoping to get a confirmation on this but I still haven’t received a reply yet.
What does that mean? It means all we need now is In-N-Out and we will officially be the burger capital of the world.
Thanks Fahad
This is a cool site where you type in an airport and you get a birds-eye view of it along with pictures taken at there. The funny thing is when you search for Kuwait you get 4 pictures, 3 of which are of McDonalds. That’s not a good sign. [Link]

Peel-able Ice Cream
The other day while channel surfing I saw a commercial for a peel-able ice cream I think on MBC. You peel the ice cream like a banana and you can eat the peel and the ice cream inside. Does anyone know if it’s available in Kuwait yet?
Pizza Eating Championship
I was checking LoYAC’s Blog again today and found a post on a pizza eating competition that was held two days back at Pizza Inn. The winner was Fahad Al-Baroud (pictured above) who managed to eat 13 and 3/4 pieces of pizza in 12 minutes. I’m personally still waiting for McDonald’s to hold a burger eating competition. You can read more on this event [Here]
Shake Shack > Pinkberry
Does Marina Mall really need another Pinkberry? If it was me I’d open up Shake Shack in that location. The space is large enough to have indoor seating and in the winter there would be plenty of room to enjoy burgers outside in the open.
Update: Alshaya are opening Pinkberry in Selfridges! [Link]
Spotted this place on the Gulf Road opposite KFC near Safir Hotel. The reason I think Fuddruckers is opening up there because the color scheme is similar to the new Fuddruckers that’s opening soon in Lebanon (check picture below). If it is the new Fuddruckers it looks pretty big.
Note: The building to the right of what I think is the new Fudds is going to be a new Lebanese Restaurant. Below is a picture of how it currently looks like.
SNOG – Pure Frozen Yogurt
Yes another frozen yogurt place is opening up. I spotted the above hoarding in Phase II of Avenues. It’s a good location since other than two Pinkberry’s, Napket and IKEA they really don’t have much competition there.
New Pizza Places
Chocolate and Chocolate posted about a new pizza place that’s opening up called The Upper Crust Pizzeria. It’s a Boston based franchise from what I’ve read so maybe someone who’s studied in Boston could tell us if it’s any good. They don’t say where they’re opening but based on the picture they’ve posted (check above) it looks like the Bidaa area. It’s opening up in Abu al Hasaniya’s “The Village”.
The other pizza place that’s opening up is the Lebanese chain Margherita which is opening up in Arabella.
Looks like pizza’s are the next big thing.
Update: A third pizza place is opening called Homeslice in Shaab.
Today I found out the Dubai branch of Red Lobster will be opening up for business on July 20th at Dubai Mall. In Kuwait on the other hand, Red Lobster is expected to open sometime in late December at Arabella.
Project: Ramadan is Awesome
Fahad just posted his guide for fat loss during Ramadan on his blog. If you’re interested in losing weight (or not gaining weight) this Ramadan then it’s worth a read. Here is the [Link]
Shake Shack opening tonight
I just found out that Shake Shack will be opening tonight at 6 in the evening.
Update: Tonight it’s just for the press and media. Tomorrow 11AM it opens up to the general public.
Update2: My contact at Alshaya just told me Shake Shack decided to open to the public today right after they finished with the press event.
Sblended Milkshakes
Tidbit Du Jour just posted about a new milkshake store that just opened in Al Kout Mall called Sblended. I hadn’t heard of this British chain before but looking at their website it seems they will blend any of your favorite chocolates into a milkshake. Sounds delicious. [Link]
Lita’s has a website
Lita’s, the small Mexican restaurant I posted about last week now has a website with their full menu (but with no prices) posted online. I haven’t passed by the place yet since I just got back from Lebanon, but based on the feedback tons of people have been leaving behind in the previous post I can’t wait to pass by and try it.
