A guy spent 1,500 hours putting together this Lego stop motion. There are some really amazing moments in this video. [YouTube]

8-bit trip
I know this is a bit late but I just passed by the Oum Kalthoum exhibit at the 360 Mall over the weekend and thats why I decided I would post about it. I am not a big Oum Kalthoum fan neither do I know much about her but the exhibition is definitely worth visiting. The exhibition space is huge. I was expecting a small room but it turned out to be gigantic. Its also very nicely put together, very tasteful and there are a lot of things to see. There is even a small cinema like section with a large projector where you can sit and watch Oum Kalthoum perform on screen. If you haven’t passed by the exhibit yet you should. Its free and its located on the ground floor of the 360 Mall.
Rick Astley vs Nine Inch Nails
Wow can’t believe how well they go together. Trent Reznor should invite Rick Astley to tour with the band or at least make one appearance. [YouTube]
Thanks Wretched
Bobby McFerrin is fun to watch. [Vimeo]
Thousands of stations in your car
Now that I finally have an iPhone with a 3G connection I can finally do what a lot of other people are doing and that is listen to satellite radio and other international stations in the car. All you need is a 3G capable iPhone, an iPhone radio app and a way of connecting the iPhone to the car stereo.
My setup is an iPhone 3GS with the WunderRadio app and an Alpine iDA-X001 head unit with which my iPhone connects to using the dock connector. If you aren’t as lucky you could use an FM Transmitter or RCA inputs. With WunderRadio you can connect to XM and SIRIUS stations in addition to thousands of other stations from around the world. For example I can listen to Lebanese radio stations like Radio one or Mix FM if I want to. Its not perfect since sometimes the connection disrupts for a few seconds every now and then but thats mostly only with the XM and SIRIUS stations, haven’t had trouble with the rest.
Some pictures from the Michael Jackson tribute that was held yesterday on the Marina Mall beach are up on the Facebook group. It seems the cops came and broke up the vigil because they thought it was witchcraft! I didn’t go but looking at the pictures I think it looked like a pretty cool and proper vigil. I read someone got into a fight with the police, if anyone has more information please post it below. Here is a link to the Facebook group with the pictures. [Link]
Note: You need to have a Facebook account to view the pictures.
I applied for tickets but didn’t get any:

Royal Guards Play Thriller
The Army’s Band of the Coldstream Guards have done their own tribute to the late Michael Jackson, as they played one of his most famous hits Thriller near Buckingham Palace. Around 40 drummers, trumpeters, clarinet and trombone players took part.
It actually sounds really good. [YouTube]
Below is another video of the Buckingham Palace guards also playing thriller. [YouTube]
On the day after Michael Jackson died, at the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, the Royal Guard Marching Band gave us a surprise performance.
We are the World
A 1985 song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, produced and conducted by Quincy Jones and recorded by a super group of 45 popular musicians including Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Kenny Rogers, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Dan Aykroyd and LaToya Jackson. I read about this on CNN earlier and just found the video online now.
Famous for their rendition of “Thriller” in 2007, the prisoners at the Cebu Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the central Philippines have once again choreographed a tribute to Michael Jackson. [TMZ]
When did they time to rehearse? [YouTube]
Dabke World Record
4,475 Lebanese participated in breaking the Guinness world record for the longest Dabke line. They weren’t as synchronized as the 1,500 Filipino prisoners dancing to Thriller but they looked like they had a lot of fun. Ironically, this record was broken in Montreal and not in Lebanon. [YouTube]
RIP Michael Jackson
Just yesterday I was listening to his album and playing his old videogame on the Sega Genesis. [News Link]
Update: Found this cool picture of Michael Jackson with Michael Jordan and Kriss Kross.
Someone mixed Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” music to the video above and I think it worked out pretty good, maybe better than the dancing prisoners. [YouTube]
I don’t know how they broke the record since they were only 242 students and 1500 Filipino inmates already danced to Thriller before. [YouTube]
