Breathtaking photos of random people at work. Makes me want to go out and take pictures of people working in Kuwait. [Link]
Was up from 3AM because we had a 3 hour drive to the middle of nowhere today. I experienced temperatures ranging from freezing 2 degrees all the way up to a hot 20. We had heavy rain, heavy fog, light snow and sizzling heat all in one day! Anyway in one of the locations we were in there was an almond tree. I took a few pictures of it but the one above was my favorite.
Was at a semi-abandoned park today and managed to capture a lot of interesting shots with my Sony W300 which you can check below. I regret not having my D90 with me…
A reader spotted a car on fire early morning in the evening while out cycling and managed to capture some pictures to share it with everyone. Looks like there was a big crowd.
Thanks Hamad!
A reader of the blog sent me pictures of Dean & Deluca so if you haven’t been there yet click on continue below to check the place out. By the way, if you’re a salami fan I think they’ve got the best salami in Kuwait… but thats probably because they don’t have ANY competition!
Some Contrast posted some pictures of the plane a couple of days ago but I couldn’t until I got approval from Wataniya Airways since they are my client. The above and below are pictures of the plane parked in Toulouse, France where Airbus plant is located. Hopefully next month I am going to be in Toulouse for the official unveiling and take some of my own photos but for now here are some of the photos taken by Airbus. The Kuwait Towers are proudly displayed on the tail of the plane and I think it actually looks pretty good. Definitely much better than the new MEA design which I HATE.
This is a new and lavish limited edition book with tons of pictures from behind the scenes of the movie Godfather. The book is limited to 1000 copies and they are all signed. Problem is it costs KD190! [Amazon Link]
Here is a link with information about the book. [Link]
Great shots of Venice’s deepest flood in 22 years. [Link]

I took this picture a few hours ago.
The strangest photoset on flickr that I’ve seen. The set contains pictures of random objects on top of cheeseburgers… [Link]
I just found this incredible book about Kuwait dating back to 1975. It has a ton of great pictures which I will scan every now and then and post over here. The caption under the picture above reads:
Kuwait also enjoys some of the more sophisticated pleasures of the West, and even the Far West. Here, for example, is a drive-in cinema in the open air not far from the city. In order to enable you to watch a film in comfort without moving from your seat, two large “pumps” introduce into your car the sound track of the film being shown and the air-conditioning which is essential at the height of the summer. All you have to do is to watch.
It sucks that no one has invented the time machine yet!

Back when I was taking pictures for my Miskan project I passed by the Kuwait Stock Exchange and ended up taking some cool pictures. Since the stock market is a popular topic at the moment I figured I would upload all the pictures I had taken that day so people can download them and use them. I’ve gotten a lot of emails from magazines and newspapers asking for the hi-res pictures so here they are all compressed into one zip file.
Download stock market pictures (4.8MB)
In return, please credit the blog if you end up using any of the photos.
Just found this interesting photoset on Flickr which contains photographs that were taken in Kuwait around 1950. All the pictures were scanned by David C. Foster from the photograph album of Francis Hadden Andrus. The picture above is of Yousef Ahmad Al-Ghanim on the left and Tom G. Mohney on the right. [Pictures]
Update: In case you missed it the shot below was featured on SomeContrast.com awhile back. Its a picture that dates back to 1956 and is of the first Porsche in Kuwait. The owner Murad Behbahani is sitting behind the wheel, and his brothers Mohammed and Redha Behbahani next to him. In a way it’s kinda similar to the shot above. [Link]
