Fire in my building
I was sitting at home watching TV when I heard sirens outside. They were getting louder and louder so I looked out the window and saw a bunch of fire trucks coming towards my building. I figured they must have taken a wrong turn but to my surprise the trucks started parking under my building and a crowd started to gather. I was thinking WTF? Their were 8 trucks, a cop car and an ambulance parked under my building so I figured something must be wrong. I took my camera and headed downstairs to see what all the commotion was about.
Once I got downstairs I saw the building keeper (haress) and asked him what was going on. He told me a store inside the mall (I live over a shopping mall) must have had a short circuit but there wasn’t anything to worry about. Fire fighters were running into the building with full gear on so I decided to take a few shots. Luckily the fire was put out quickly before any other stores caught fire.
If yes then I have to recommend the Canon PowerShot A550. I have the older version and I keep it in my car and use it as my everyday point and shoot camera. The camera is 7.1MP and has a lot of features including full manual control and uses regular AA batteries which makes it practical when traveling. Now here is the best part, the camera is now on sale at Amazon.com and costs only $128!! Thats KD36 which is REALLY CHEAP. [Amazon Link]

Light Graffiti
Some incredible light graffiti by a photographer called Michael Bosanko. [Link]
update: The photographer had this to say:
Hi folks. Thanks for the kind words about my work 🙂 Somebody pointed this link to me, and it made my day 🙂
All of the images are done in one take, maximum 30 second exposure, no photoshop involved in any of them. I pre-determine the images before I mark them out with light. I’ve started introducing a secondary light into my work, which means I need to be extra fast, as you can see on the example in the cornfield I did.
Anyway, just thought I’d pop in and say thanks!
Kind regards,
Michael

Today was the third and final day of the three day shoot. When I woke up in the morning I was worried that the shoot was going to get postponed till tomorrow since today was declared a national mourning day after the assassination of the politician yesterday. Luckily it wasn’t canceled and we went ahead with the shoot.
We started shooting late at around 10AM today because it took a lot longer to setup the market then expected. Once everything was setup it just looked really great and full of colors and colorful characters. I took a ton of pictures which you can check by clicking the link below.
Tomorrow morning I have to attend the color grading of the film in the morning and that should take a few hours. Once I am done I have to quickly rush to my hotel, pick up my luggage and head off to the airport to come back to Kuwait. I can’t wait to get back.
Today was the second day of the three day shoot. I was on set at 6:30AM and we were done awhile ago around 8PM. It wasn’t as exhausting as the first shoot but since I’ve only had a total of eight hours of sleep in the past two days I was extremely tired. I was still better off then some of the guys in the production team who had slept only two hours in two days.
While in the middle of the shoot we got word that there was an explosion a few kilometers away. We later found out a politician was assassinated. Another explosion, another day. Things are just a total mess over here.
To check out more pictures from todays shoot click on the link below.
I just got back to the hotel room, its 6:30 in the morning. We were out shooting since 2 in the afternoon and it lasted all through the night up until the break of dawn. I am extremely exhausted but I wanted to upload a few pictures of the shoot before I went to sleep. There were over 100 people on the set today so it was really packed. This was the first day of a three day shoot. Check out the pictures by clicking the link below.
Unforgettable Photos
This is a cool feature. It seems you can now make Google Images search for pictures of just faces. There isn’t a command available yet in the user interface but if you append &imgtype=face to the end of your search result url, it will filter the images and just display the ones that are of faces.
For example try these two links:
A search for images of Kuwait
https://images.google.com/images?q=kuwait
Same search for images of Kuwait but with the faces filter
https://images.google.com/images?q=kuwait&imgtype=face
Its slightly geeky but still cool. Check out this site for more details. [Link]

The Dry Valleys of Antarctica get almost no snowfall, and except for a few steep rocks they are the only continental part of Antarctica devoid of ice. The terrain looks like something not of this Earth; the valley floor occasionally contains a perennially frozen lake with ice several meters thick. Under the ice, in the extremely salty water live mysterious simple organisms, a subject of on-going research.
Some really amazing pictures. [Pictures]
