Renewing Classic Car Registration

Just a quick note in case anyone is trying to google this information. If your car is older than 1980, you now can only get your car registration renewed at the main Assima (Capital Governorate) Traffic Department. Previously you could get it renewed at other traffic departments like Jabriya but not anymore. I went last week and I really don’t like that place. Super busy, long lines and the whole place is crumbling.

Depends which classic I have 3. The Alfa is the one I’m currently using, the Datsun is the one being rebuilt and finishing today. My FJ40 still being built in Abu Dhabi and needs a couple of more months.

i’m registered in the Classic Cars Museum and they helped with renewing the registration all i did is gave them the insurance renewal papers from any insurance company and they did the rest. the only downside is that it took them around a week and a half 😀

sorry for late reply…i went to the museum (ادارة) and asked about being a member they just asked for ID and some photos and in few days they called me it was finished. That was before Covid and I still think it’s the same

I took my classic last January to Jabriyah and they told to go to Asima to renew the registration, I went there and it wasn’t crowded , they checking was in Asima but for Dafter/registration paper I had to go back to Jabriya
