Copy Paste

copy paste

I was surfing the web last week at work when I fell upon a visual that looked familiar. I was sure that I had seen it before and only when I got home I realized where. The cover on the left is from Bazaar’s 2006 dining guide. The artwork on the right was originally designed and illustrated by a designer called Bo Lundberg.

I emailed Bo Lundberg to find out if he had given Bazaar permission to use his design for their cover and according to him he didn’t, the visual was copied from him and Bazaar never contacted him.

Check out Bo Lundberg’s work by visiting his website. [Link]

Shoot, I thought you meant Harper’s Bazaar THE magazine and couldn’t believe they would be that stupid. But since you’re actually talking about bazaar, some magazine in kuwait, oh well…

On their site they say: “jugde a magazine by it’s cover”… er, yes. If the cover is plagierised, it would be safe to assume that the contents of it would be too.(As we have found out in the past). What a joke!!

nice…..

change topic: please find details regarding the August 27 phenomenon where as we could see Mars @ 12:30am (???????)

thnx

Mark, man, you sound surprised! This is Kuwait after all! As naser m said (above), nothing will happen to Bazaar here in Kuwait, so they can get away with stealing ppl’s art…

People copying other people’s work in Kuwait…Tell us something that we didn’t know already!

dude…PLEASE…spare the sueing and the legal use !! u guys post soo much of that bullox its getting annoying…THIS IS KUWAT..we allow piracy freely (until very recently)…copyrights, tradmarks, and all that follows is not even cared about…seriously, u mailing that guy was simply a waste of your time ..no one is ever going to care..and plus, if you do sue..you will get nothing more than ur money lost at paying a lawyer !!..welcome to kuwait !!…!!!

I think it’s the mistake of the guy designing the magazine at the printing press. I think he stole the artwork and claimed it was his original work. I don’t think Bazaar is that stupid to blatantly steal the artwork and think they would get away with it.

bazaar is thrilled that Mark has a copy of its dining guide at home 😉
We are also thankful that you located the artist and we have already contacted him and arranged to reimburse him for the use of his work which we incidentally got from an entirely different site.

its not about the money, its about a principle !.. a person work is a person identity, you cant take that away from him/her

for me, when someone steals my work, which happened a lot, I just feel flattered cause I know that wouldnt happened unless it is So Good !
but, if they get the credit, that is really annoying

Geeze Mark, Chill. Maybe Bazaar took it off a site like istockphoto or something, in which case, would be an everyday thing to do…

AppleGirl they didn’t get this visual from istockphoto, or gettyimages, or corbis or veer. If they had then they would have paid for the visual and had the right to use it.

Well, bazaar has been forthcoming in thanking you for having pointed the matter out, and they are making necessary amendments.

Why do you have to keep on at them? Khalas, man…

From what I have said in my last two replies could you please point out what line is bothering you. Because I looked at what I wrote and I don’t see anything wrong.

Mark: that Bazaar thanked you for letting them know, and that they contacted the artist to remedy matters, needn’t be met with more criticism:

“you make it sound like you do this everyday”.
