Reporting Traffic Violations by WhatsApp

Has anyone tried reporting traffic violations to the General Traffic Department using WhatsApp? The screenshots above got forwarded to one of my groups and it shows a person reporting a car parked illegally to the traffic department and then getting a response back an hour later showing the person was ticketed.

I tried the service a few days ago and I didn’t get any response back so no idea if an action was taken or not so can’t verify this whole thing works. But, you can try it yourself, the WhatsApp number to report violations is 99324092‬. If you’ve tried this before and it’s worked, let me know in the comments.

If that works, I will take videos of those who eat in their cars outside of fast food restaurants and throw their trash on the ground right after they finish

I have reported someone doing that by video .. and a ticket was issued.

That both MOI and EPA job so either one can issue a ticket.

I think it depends on the severity of the violation along with the location of the situation. Don’t forget tons of people are sending silly stuff to the number too

That can be really easy taken care of.. Just issue a warning followed by fine on the ones repeatedly abusing the system and shortly you`ll have only serious submissions. Kind off like what happens when you`re abusing the emergency number 112, at least this is in Europe, no sure if it works here.

I`m curios if it works and if they accept also videos with a$$holes in traffic. If it does, I will start downloading daily the car dash cam….

I did send them dashcam footage and they accepted it and forwarded my complaint. Not sure if any action was taken against the idiot though.

i tried it once last month, they told me to go to salwa police station because it’s not their job to fine illegally parked cars. i asked what was the point of this service then if i have to go to the police station anyway, they responded with ‘it’s not for residential areas’….well ok then. very helpful. mind you, the car i sent them a picture of was blocking 2 turns and parking literally in the middle of the road. Leave them be, let all of us suffer instead.

Deplorable. MoI has a problem with patrols in residential areas, as well as the needed officers going to work in the police stations. Them taking the whatsapp thing serioursly is very important if they actually care about doing their job.

I did send them a parked car and the did accept it, but it wasn’t in a residential area, it was in one of the restaurant parkings on gulf rd.

People are all acting like traffic police and being snitches while the traffic police themselves chill and literally do nothing when people are violating traffic rules right in front of them

ya literally i see traffic cops standing on the signal outside their cars on the gulf road and then there will be a guy on a bike without a helmet and smoking a cigarette simultaneously. and the cop won’t even nudge.. laws are epic in Kuwait.

Tried it many times. I always get an automated reply that the complaint has been forwarded. Never any follow up so not sure if any action is actually taken.

It works… I tried it at least 10 times. Occasionally they will send back images or videos of cars being ticketed. People now park better in my workplace because of this!

i need to take a break from work and walk down to crystal tower parking. its epic to see the cars parked on the road and pavement. i mean where are the people going to walk.
i have even see a drain opened on the pavement behind crystal tower and there were cars parked on the road, so a lady who was busy texting walked on the pavement and down the ditch. it was very unfortunate to see that.

The could have got a better number, but that’s none of my business. on a side note, I’m intrigued to report myself blocking my neighborhood st and see if it works.

Does this also include reporting ppl using phone while driving? I am so irritated seeing ppl using phones to text, take selfies and snapchat while driving. Like how does it not get into your head that this is dangerous for you and everyone around you?! And dont get me started on people who drive with kids in the driver and front passenger seat without wearing seatbelts. These ppl are being negligent and action needs to be taken.

Can someone please report every customer who parks their car outside Muharraq Skewers in Amman street? They block the whole lane and because of the restaurants placement, it blocks traffic on both sides of the road.
I hate taking Amman street after 7pm now.

so true. hats off to that restaurant for doing so well.. but they need to realize what an inconvenience their existence has made in such a short span of time after they set up shop.

It’s the same issue everywhere though, I have Jeita at the start of the 4th ring road amman street intersection, 3 lanes squeeze to be come 2 and then 1 because people occupying one lane because they’re ordering shawerma

There is a similar system in India called the Traffic Sentinnel. The difference is the person reporting collects points (a percentage of the fine) that can be redeemed for real money. Some youngsters made it a career earning serious money but also ended up getting trashed by the violators.
It is done using a dedicated app. Only images captured using the app are used. You can’t just upload a random picture from your gallery.
