If not Aramex then what?

Tivo Guy asked if there was another service other then Aramex’s Shop & Ship. The answer is yes, there is, MyUS.com. I haven’t personally used it but my old boss did. The prices are more expensive then Aramex but the packages are delivered by DHL, and you have more control over your mailbox. For example, you can tell them to ship your magazines once a month but packages as they come. You can also for example ship the packages on your command. That means you can fill up your box and when you think you have all your stuff you give the order to ship. You also have the option to insure your packages, a good option when ordering items like laptops and expensive gear. Again, this all comes at a price.

4lb’s of weight with Aramex would cost you KD7, while with MyUS would cost you KD12. Aramex also has a one time setup fee of KD10, and then its free annually. MyUS has a setup fee of KD10 but it has an annual fee of KD40 for 12 months, or KD5 monthly.

If you are totally fed up with Aramex, there is another option, but are you willing to pay the price?

Status on my PSP

My PSP finally shipped from the States. According to BusyNow if the description did not contain the word “electronics” it would have less chance of getting stopped as customs. My package description says “games” so I hope I don’t have issues.

Review: Turkey & Swiss Sandwich

I had Hardee’s for lunch today. I had the Mushroom & Swiss combo plus a Turkey & Swiss sandwich as a side order. This was the second time I had the Turkey & Swiss sandwich and I don’t know why I bothered. Last time I had it I didn’t enjoy it but I figured I would give it a second chance. Today’s sandwich was worse then last time. The cheese wasn’t properly melted and the whole thing tasted sick. I ate half sandwich and then threw the rest away. Never gonna have it again. Score, 1/5.

FOR SALE: Sony Clie UX-40 PDA

Since my new phone does not have bluetooth or GPRS anymore, I am going selling my Sony Clie PDA. The model version is UX-40. It has a 480×320 resolution screen, a keyboard with backlight, bluetooth with an option of upgrading to wifi, a built in VGA camera to capture pictures of videos, an excellent web browser, you chat on msn, use ftp, telnet, vnc whatever you want, it takes memorysticks, you can watch movies on it, its basically like a tiny PC. Out of 10 I would give my PDA a condition of 7. I am considering selling it for KD70 which is fairly similar to how much they are selling for on ebay, actually I think mine is even cheaper. I still have the box and manuals all in excellent condition. If you are interested contact me. Here are some pictures.

This is a repost

Flick Trix

I found the coolest thing at Fantasy World last week, half pipes and bike ramps. Ok they weren’t real size in fact they were tiny. The different type of ramps were Flick Trix bikes. They are small bmx bikes you ride with your fingers and you use the half pipes and ramps to make tricks. They were selling them REALLY cheap, turns out no one was buying them so they had to knock down the prices. A large half pipe for example costs KD1.200 while a BMW bike only 300 fils. I got 2 bikes and 1 half pipe to try it out, and the thing is huge, much larger then I imagine. Today I am going to go to get other types of ramps and bikes. Very cool stuff here is a picture of my half pip with the 2 bikes. [Picture]

I Hate Parties

Just got back from a BBQ party. Its 11PM, we got there at 10. 1 hour is all I could handle. The party was at a friends place, a guy I have known since I was in highschool. A very nice guy that knows too many people. Me on the other hand I currently have 8 numbers on my phone, 4 of them are related to me. I am not a social person and I don’t like meeting new people. There were tons of cool looking people at the party, but making new friends takes time and effort, both things I lack. So an hour after coming to the party, me and nat got bored and left. An hour at the party is good, last time we went to a party at Hilton Resort, we left after 3 minutes.

Best Breakfast in Town

I pass by McDonalds nearly every morning to have breakfast. It started off at first as a way to kill time before I got to the office, but now its become a daily routine. I love a good breakfast and I haven’t found a place in Kuwait yet that provides as good a breakfast as McDonalds.. for the price. 850 fils will get you eggs, muffins, sausages, hashbrowns and a coffee or orange juice. 400 fils will get you 3 large pancakes. 350 fils will get you one of the McMuffin sandwiches while 700 fils will get you a McMuffin sandwich, hashbrown and your choice of coffee or orange juice. I like passing by in the morning on my way to work because it gives me time to sit quietly and think while also allowing me to read the morning paper. Surprisingly, the majority of McDonalds breakfast people are local woman of various ages. Some look like university students, some look like government employees while others look like mothers who had just dropped off their kids to school. For those of you who have never had a McDonalds breakfast I definetly advise you to try it out. Where else can you get eggs, pancakes, muffins, hashbrowns, sausages, and orange juice all for only KD1.250?

Come on SHIP!

Yesterday my PSP arrived at my US mailbox. Now I am just waiting for them to ship it to Kuwait. I can’t believe I have to wait the whole weekend to get the PSP. I have two major worries. One, I will have problems with the local customs since it seems Sony, Panasonic and some other dealers in Kuwait have made a pact with the custom authorities, and any of their products are usually not allowed into Kuwait. The second worry I have is dead pixels. Dead pixels are pixels on the screen that don’t change color. This means if the whole screen is black for example the dead pixel might show as a green dot on the screen. 1 dead pixel isn’t a major problem but I have read about people getting a full row or dead pixels! The suspense is killing me.

Shownet REALLY suck!

Oh my god I really can’t believe this. So my internet hasn’t been working for over a month now and I they are still taking 50KD a month. No one can come fix my connection at home because they cant come after 5PM and I finish work at 5:30. So I just went to shownet now in Farwaniya to cancel my account and guess what. They fucking close at 6. There is no way I can make it from Kuwait City to Farwaniya in less then half an hour. I might but it I doubt if I get there at 5:55 anyone will be willing to help. So this means I dont have internet and I can’t cancel my account. unfucking believable!
