Earlier in the month I posted about the interesting Universal Store I found in Muthana Complex and yesterday night the owner of the store commented on the post clearing up some details. Here is his comment:
Hi everyone
Firstly, thanks for all comments that I have seen here from you guys, I was really shocked when I found out that someone posted the store on their website, I got the site address from a note which I found in the store when I was there to check up on some work.
I wanted to clear up a fact, we are not connected to Universal Studio which is located in the states (The famous movie maker), our name is diffrent but the logo is similar with some changes, so we are far away from the courts 🙂 we chose this name and logo because our work and products are related to the movies and everyone knows UNIVERSAL STUDIO = movies so we wanted to have an emotional link with the customers first, and maybe you will not believe me if I tell you that even with this emotional link we chose there are still some people which don’t know if these products or figures are for movies characters!
Besides that we have a direct connection and we are an authorized distributor for Sideshow Collectibles & Sideshow Weta, the company which made all Lord Of The Ring movies items and costumes (we still not fake! 🙂 ) www.sideshowtoy.com
About the prices, we dont find ourselves expensive when it comes to most of our items. Our prices are somewhat similar to the main company prices, add on that they are COLLECTIBLES! which means they have limited quantity worldwide and whenever they are out of stock you will find the items triple the price on eBay!
The store is small I agree because we found that we cannot go for a bigger one because this kind of store are only for movies fans and thats means a small market. We also cant import all items which we decided to import before at this time because we are waiting for our one year work result and the right time to improve all our products lines, and soon we will offer a free catalog on DVD disk which is made by the original company SIDESHOW TOYS.
Finally, sorry for my long post, its only to give some information about the original post and to correct some ideas, and thanks for you all guys again.

Wow this movie looks like its going to be just fucking amazing. Its by the director Darren Aronofsky’s (Pi, Requiem for a Dream) so you know its going to be weird as hell but from the look of the trailer it looks like its going to be the weirdest shit he’s done so far. I can’t wait till the movie comes out, its just really weird.

Two days ago I watched the movie Waiting… which stars a few of my favorite actors including Ryan Reynolds (Two Guys and a Girl), Anna Faris (Scary Movie) and Luis Guzmán (Pachanga in Carlito’s Way). The movie talks about a group of friends working at a restaurant who are all bored and want something better in their lives, may it be a girl, a promotion or a better career. Its one of those movies thats very entertaining to watch but just doesn’t really have a beginning or an end. It reminded me a lot of the movie Empire Records except those guys were working at a music store and these guys at a restaurant.
This movie in a way is also educational, you learn for example never to piss off your waiter. Seriously, once you see this movie you might never eat at a restaurant again so be warned. Its a funny movie with a lot of silly moments but with a pace that is calm and peaceful like The Station Agent. It was fun to watch and thats why I am giving it a 4 out of 5.
My office is across the street from Muthana Complex in Kuwait City and I Have been working there for over a year now and I used to visit Muthana daily. Now I pass by there once or twice a week. You would think that after visiting Muthana a couple of hundreds times already that I would know it inside out, well thats what I figured until yesterday I found a store that I didn’t know existed.. the Universal Store.
My usual entrance into Muthana was closed so I had to walk around the building from the outside trying to find an open entrance. While walking around I found a store called Universal Store. From the outside I saw that the store sold movie related items but once I got closer I noticed they sold movie collectibles and props. So I go in and ask the saleslady how long the store has been open and she tells me 1 year! How the hell did I miss this shop? Anyway the shop is small but packed with goodies. The movie trailer for the 9/11 movie United 93 is now online. The trailer starts off feeling like a Gus Van Sant movie which is making me wonder if it might have been better off to have him direct it in the first place.. [Link]

I had heard a lot about Johnny Cash but I only really heard his music for the first time back in January. The first song I had heard by him was Hurt which was a remake of a Nine Inch Nails song and it just gave me goosebumps. When I heard about Walk the Line which was based on his life story I had to watch it, even though I had only been listening to his music for just over a month now there was something about him.. his voice.. it just wanted me to find out more about him. In the video for Hurt it looked like Johnny Cash had been through a lot in his life and if this movie was all about him then I was eager to watch it.
Well there is good news and bad news. The good news is this movie was really beautiful. Joaquin Phoenix was just incredible, I have never seen him act this well before, he really shines in this movie and the same goes for Reese Witherspoon, whoever cast her to play Johnny’s wife is very gifted because after watching this movie and seeing pictures of Cash’s wife I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing her in the movie.
Now the bad news, I was expecting this movie to focus on Johnny Cash’s career from the beginning till the end but sadly it only focuses on his early days up till the late 60’s. I wanted to know more about Cash, I wanted so much more and this movie just left me hanging. Its still a great movie but it just kept me wanting more. I don’t know if I would recommend this movie to someone who isn’t into Cash, Nat for example found the movie just “OK” but I think she liked it a bit more after I made her watch the video for Hurt.
If you don’t know who Johnny Cash is then this movie won’t mean much to you. Me, personally, I give it a 4 out of 5.
I just started watching the movie Top Gun. Never watched it before and hopefully its pretty good. So far the intro of the movie feels dejavu but I guess thats because I have watched the movie “Hot Shots” a ton of times and its basically a spoof to Top Gun.
Update: what the hell, Tom Cruises partner “Goose” is the dorky Dr. Mark Greene from ER! He had hair! I also just saw Val Kilmer, didn’t know he was in this movie. The sherif from Picket Fences is also in this movie.
Update 2: Just finished watching the movie, it turned out to be pretty good. I am glad I finally watched it. Now I feel like watching Men At Work for some reason..
Wow, all the movies on this list are over 5 hours with the longest one being 27 hours long! To think I was complaining about how King Kong was too long.. [Link]
