David Hasselhoff – Hooked On A Feeling

I am a huge David Hasselhoff fan but even for me watching this video was just to painful. [Video]

On the positive side he isn’t parading in his underwear.

Review: Walk the Line

Walk the Line

I had heard a lot about Johnny Cash but I only really heard his music for the first time back in January. The first song I had heard by him was Hurt which was a remake of a Nine Inch Nails song and it just gave me goosebumps. When I heard about Walk the Line which was based on his life story I had to watch it, even though I had only been listening to his music for just over a month now there was something about him.. his voice.. it just wanted me to find out more about him. In the video for Hurt it looked like Johnny Cash had been through a lot in his life and if this movie was all about him then I was eager to watch it.

Well there is good news and bad news. The good news is this movie was really beautiful. Joaquin Phoenix was just incredible, I have never seen him act this well before, he really shines in this movie and the same goes for Reese Witherspoon, whoever cast her to play Johnny’s wife is very gifted because after watching this movie and seeing pictures of Cash’s wife I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing her in the movie.

Now the bad news, I was expecting this movie to focus on Johnny Cash’s career from the beginning till the end but sadly it only focuses on his early days up till the late 60’s. I wanted to know more about Cash, I wanted so much more and this movie just left me hanging. Its still a great movie but it just kept me wanting more. I don’t know if I would recommend this movie to someone who isn’t into Cash, Nat for example found the movie just “OK” but I think she liked it a bit more after I made her watch the video for Hurt.

If you don’t know who Johnny Cash is then this movie won’t mean much to you. Me, personally, I give it a 4 out of 5.

Portishead Remixed

Dumb Remix

Wow, this “Dummy” album remix is fucking amazing! If you were a fan of Portishead then you will really love this remixed album. I am soo bored of all the Portishead songs but these remixes have brought them back to life. This remix album is as good if not better then Dj Danger Mouse’s “The Grey Album“.

Cheap Original CD’s

12 for 1

There is a site I use every now and then to buy CDs from. I usually use it when I want to buy every CD of a certain band for example I got all the Alice in Chains CDs plus all Rage Against the Machine CDs from this site. The site I am talking about is BMGmusic.com. I use them because the CDs are really cheap, you buy 12 CDs for the price of 1. Thats it, no small print filled with traps and no forcing you to buy 6 more CDs in the next 2 years like Columbia House.

I have used them maybe 6 times so far and I usually buy classics like Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Its a practical way of expanding your CD collection… that is if you still collect CDs. 12 CDs for the price of 1, its hard to beat. [Link]

In Kuwait? Order Pirated DVD’s & CD’s Online

I found a website yesterday that sells pirated DVD’s and CD’s online here in Kuwait.. and they deliver! The website sells DVD’s for KD1.5 ($5) each and they seem to have a decent collection. I don’t know how much the CD’s go for but I am guessing either the same or less. Payment is made on delivery and the delivery is free of charge. [Link]

Update: There is another site that will also deliver DVD’s to your home, but they require you to buy atleast 3 DVD’s at KD2 ($6) each. You also place the order by phone and they seem to have a large collection. [Link]

Johnny Cash is Cool

I know who Johnny Cash is, I mean I had heard of him and I think I know how he looks like. What I didn’t know was that one of my favorite Nine Inch Nails songs was originally played by Johnny Cash. The song I am talking about is called “Hurt” and I just heard Johnny Cash’s version and its pretty cool. So I just spent a full $1.80 and downloaded the The Legend Of Johnny Cash album from AllOfMp3.com. Check out the two different version below. They are not the full songs just a preview, the Nine Inch Nails one kicks in late in the song which you can’t hear in the preview below but I found the live version which is more active the first minute then the regular one.

Hurt – Johnny Cash
Hurt (Live) – Nine Inch Nails

Update:
Ok it turns out Johnny Cash took the song off Nine Inch Nails, not the other way around! Wiki has more info. [Link]

Update 2: Watch the Johnny Cash – Hurt video. [Link]

Songs Used in CSI

For those of you who watch any of the CSI shows (Las Vegas, Miami, NY) you might have noticed that they play some really cool music on the show. Its mostly drum n bass and downbeat but you also get some other styles. I usually used to recognize most of the good songs they played but now recently they have been playing some really good stuff I had never heard of before. So, I did a bit of googling and I found this website that has the names of songs from each episode. Disappointingly I didn’t find the song I was looking for this time around, its from CSI NY episode 21. But I wasn’t put down by that, they still have hundreds of other songs listed. Check it out [Link]

Is this gay?

hung up

I can’t get the song Hung Up by Madonna out of my head. When I wake up in the morning the song is usually stuck in my head, I am always singing it when I am not paying attention and I am always listening to it on my iPod.

ps: I just realized the only lyrics I know from the song is the one line “Time goes by, so slowly time goes by..” I think I will learn more of the lyrics at least..

update: just got the lyrics click on more to read them

Sennheiser PX100 Review

PX100

I am sitting here listening to the song Crimson by Circulation and I have to say, the PX100 are amazing. When I first got the PX100 I posted about them but now that I have been using them for over a week I am ready to review them. These headphones are really everything I was hoping them to be. They are light, compact, comfortable and sound fucking great.

I usually carry my stuff into work in the morning and then take them with me in the evening. I don’t like leaving my personal stuff behind and thats why I was looking for portable headphones. The PX100 fold up nicely into an amazingly designed case which I can fit in my pocket and then throw into my wrangler knowing that no matter how violent I am with it my headphones are tucked away safely in its hard case. I can imagine this case would also be perfect for throwing into your backpack which would be filled with books and other objects that might usually break your headphones.

During working hours I spend 90% of my time listening to music and if I work an 8 hour shift that means I spend maybe 7 hours listening to music (I know thats not exactly 90%). This is why I really needed my headphones to be comfortable and the PX100 are exactly that. I could have them on for 7 hours straight and not feel the need to take them off. They are super comfortable and light enough for me not to even realize that I have them on.

Now although comfort and portability were a priority in choosing a headphone, sound quality was even more important. Since I also own a pair of Bang & Olufsen A8’s (which suck) and Shure E2’s (great at isolation), I wanted these headphones to be everything the other 2 weren’t.. good in the low frequencies. The bass response in the PX100 is deep and tight and not overdone like my old Technics Dj1200’s were. The highs, the mids the lows, they are all there and perfectly balanced. I enjoy the sound of my Sennheisers now way more then the B&O’s and a bit more then the Shure E2s which is saying alto.

In conclusion I don’t think I ever need to buy another pair of headphones (Actually I do want to try the Grados). The Sennheiser PX100 turned out to be better then I was expecting them to be and I really love them. They cost $45 on Amazon and I think thats a steal, I would pay double the price easily.
