GTA PSP
GTA on the PSP is out but sadly its 1.16GB uncompressed. I need to wait until a ripped version comes out so I can copy it onto my 1GB memory stick. [Link]
Hacked PSP – My Experience
Yesterday I recieved my 1GB Ultra II Memorystick Duo and I quickly tried running games off it by copying their iso’s onto the Memorystick and running them using FastLoader 0.7. Majority of the games I tried didn’t work and I even had trouble unraring most of the files. So here are some tips I would like to pass on from my experience.
– Firstly, Mac users, if you want to unrar files, get UnRarX. Its a great utillity that does a much better job then Stuffit. I was getting errors using Stuffit but didn’t get any when using UnRarX.
– Secondly, there are two different types of MemoryStick Duo’s, the regular kinda and the High-speed. Whats the difference? Regular memorysticks read and write at 15MB/sec while the high=speed ones read and write at 80MB/sec. So get the High-Speed (Ultra II) ones since they cost a bit more but offer better performance.
– Thirdly, most of the games like Winning Eleven 9 and Madden 2006 wouldn’t work with the regular FastLoader. To get it working I used Devhook 0.21.
If I have any more tips I will add them to this post in the future.
PSP 1.5
Yesterday night I downgraded my PSP from version 2.0 to 1.5. The reason I did that was so I could play pirated PSP games and install Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis emulators.
The downgrade was a bit scary, whenever you play with a hardwares firmware you risk fucking it up so that it becomes useless. Luckily my downgrade went smoothly and my PSP is now version 1.5. Games like SOCOM which I received the other day need a software version 1.52 or higher, so I downloaded another software which makes the PSP think its another version, I made it think it was version 2.0 and I can now continue to play SOCOM online.
I ordered a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II memorystick duo from Amazon so I could install the PSP games on. I ordered the Ultra II version since its faster then the regular memorystick and will help when it comes to loading the games faster.
Until the 1GB stick arrives I am using my 128MB memorystick which won’t fit any downloaded pirated PSP games but will fit a ton of emulators and Roms. I installed a Super Nintendo emulator with the following games: Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, NBA JAM Tournament Edition, Super Metroid, Super Mario World and Star Wars Empire Strikes Back. They all run very nicely on the PSP and I spent most of my time flipping between Mortal Kombat and NBA JAM, my two favorite games ever. I still need to download NHL 94 which is one of my favorite sports games also.
Using thepiratebay.org I was able to find around 30 PSP games which I managed to download. A 512MB memorystick would be enough to run most of them but if you are planning to install more then 1 game on a memory stick it would be a lot better to get a 1GB stick. Some games like Collin McRae take up 975MB of space which won’t even fit on a 512MB stick.
So if you have a PSP and want to downgrade and install emulators and downloaded games, here are some links to help you out.

Two Free Games for the Mac
I just downloaded two amazing freeware games for the mac. Both of them are shooters, fast and have great soundtracks. For Gunroar make sure you select the mouse as your targeting tool and then use the letters W A S D to move around. Both games are easy to pick up on and have a nice retro look to them so have fun.
Perfect Dark Zero
I was talking to BusyNow the other day about which game would be the coolest on the XBOX360 and the most important one we should get. It was a bit confusing because of all the great titles, today though I decided which game I NEED to have.. Perfect Dark Zero. I have it on the N64 and its a really cool game but the XBOX360 version is like so fucking different. I just downloaded a video of the game in action and the graphics are just unreal. Check it out. Sigh, I love MAME, but I have to agree with the writer, MAME has morphed into a sad story. [Link]
Seems the videogame industry is pretty pumped up about Nintendo’s Revolution controller. Now I can’t wait till 2006. [Link]
PSP in Kuwait
The Sony dealer in Kuwait has started selling the Sony PSP. The value pack with 1 game is selling for KD99 while a value pack with 2 games for KD113.
The design of the Nintendo Revolution controller was finally made public today. Its incredibly creative and definitely kicks both Microsoft and Sonys ass in the controller department.. especially Sony who have their weird looking boomerang controller. The Revolution controller comes in two parts (one is pictured above) and has motion sensors so it can detect if you are holding the controller sideways or which direction you are turning it. This can be used in games so for example if you are playing Star Wars you can swing the controller around and your character on the screen will swing his Light Saber the same way you are. So now the Nintendo Revolution has 2 things going for it, you can play old Nintendo games on the system plus it has an incredibly smart controller. [Link]
Update: Check out this link for a lot more better pictures of the controller [Link]

Stupid DS Battery
People complain about how the Sony PSP’s battery lasts for only 3 hours while the Nintendo DS lasts for 8. Well I have had the PSP for a few months now and I never had a battery issue because I was always able to charge the battery before it got low enough to cause me a problem. Awhile ago I was playing with my Nintendo DS and suddenly the green battery LED turned red. So I figure this must mean I have like 2 hours of playtime left before the battery dies. I was wrong, 20 minutes later my DS died!
There is no way to know exactly how much power is left in your DS until the red light comes on and only then do you know that you are fucked. Atleast with the PSP in every pause screen of any game you can see the battery meter on the top right corner telling you exactly how much battery is left.

Oolite
Oolite is a space sim game, written for Mac OS X in Objective C using Cocoa and OpenGL. It is designed as a small game that is easy for users to pick up and expand upon. Almost every aspect of the game can be modified using simple, free graphics packages and text-editors. Oolite now works in Tiger. [Link]
Update: Although the idea behind this game sounded promising, after playing it or should I say trying to play it, this game is basically crap.
